A little Ty Warren blurb: Link: http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2011/08/01/broncos-dt-watch-ty-warren-and-jamaal-anderson/8526/
can someone explain to me the benefit of practicing outside when you've got a bubble to protect you from the heat? texans play in a domed stadium with a retractable roof that doesn't open unless its California weather outside anyways. it would seem the heat would just make the players expend unnecessary energy that could be focused more on practice than trying to fight heat stroke.
Well, I guess one argument could be that not all stadiums they will play in will be covered or have a retractable roof, so maybe they want to be conditioned for that heat when they play those road games. Off the top of my head, I don't know which teams/games that might be this particular season, though. Might just be that our coaches are idiots.
Just a guess, the practice field has like 4 around 50 yard fields so teams can practice at different stations. I don't know how big the bubble is, but if I had to guess it is only 50 yards as well so they don't want it all crammed with special teams, offense and defense all together. They probably also practice outside to help with conditioning.
I would say conditioning. Could also help players prepare for high intense situations. Being that they are able to perform at top speed in high heat i would think gives them the upper hand with other teams who are not. Or maybe they all just want to go into the season with the best rated farmer tans.
You practice in the heat so you can be conditioned well for the season. Of course the heat tires You out, but the whole point is to push you past that threshold of wanting to give up because its too hot
The Texans schedule is mostly outdoor games in the daytime. It will be fairly warm for most of them, if not downright hot (jacksonville, tampa, miami, etc). The only cold weather game they play will be week 14 @ cincinatti.
they did practice in the morning so it's not like it was in the middle of the afternoon. And they were in shorts. there is also the space issue, as someone else mentioned. The bubble isn't that big. Plus, it's football. They can sweat a little.
