The Texans were a power running team last year. Sometimes I think that's more reliable than having a third receiving threat.
Considering how rarely we use our FBs (both in run blocking and as ball carriers/pass catchers), it is very much an auxiliary position.
Andre Johnson's catches and Passing Yards will diminish, Schaub will get hit more in the back field, and Foster will get many less yards rushing because of this.
Read this quote, again, carefully. If McNair cared about winning as much as he desperately wants us to believe, Kubiak would have been fired years ago, because the problems extend way beyond an embarrassing defense, yet Kubiak is still here. This tells me that McNair is either too prideful to admit he bungled two front offices in a row or that he's reluctant to spend the big $$$ necessary to bring in an elite level coach, or perhaps it's not the money at all, perhaps McNair simply prefers to hire company men who won't make waves. You know, kinda like Leslie Alexander. But there is no evidence that McNair wants to win so badly that he'll go out and hire a head coach who'll kick a little ass, ruffle some feathers, and not drop what he's doing every time Uncle Bob wants some quality time. In short, yes, Bob McNair would like to win, but if he wants to win as much as he wants us to believe he does, he's got a weird way of showing it, because not only does Kubiak still have his job, there's not even any evidence that he's on the hot seat!
Vonta was here for 4 years, and all those numbers went up and down throughout his tenure. I doubt his departure will have much impact.
Vonta had a solid year but a lot of people are overrating what he means to this team. The guy was in the game 30% of the offensive plays and people want to pay him 11 million over 3 years? He was a solid blocker, but you can replace that much cheaper with a guy like Vickers. Will Arian's foster yards per carry diminish maybe a little because teams have more film to study but I think he will still get around 1400-1500 yards. He is also a threat on screens which Kubiak finally utilized. If Casey is bulked up like most reports have said we should be fine. Our running game prior to last year had been really poor.
He was only on the field in 38% of the offensive plays last year. Also, keep in mind he was our starting FB when the running game was one of the worst in the league a few years ago. I love the guy, but come on. He's a FB. The Texans don't exactly line up in the I-formation on every single play.
I'll work on one in the next week or so. WIDESCREEN 16:9 or REGULAR 4:3? What player would you like on the main screen? ??? Yeah, I understand the Texans would never have matched that... but his opening holes that's what SHE said and punishing linebackers was what helped Arian Foster get SOME yards... but, yeah, it's probably not worth looking that up now. I never said the Texans should never have let him go to another team... I just said he helped a lot. I hope Casey does as good or even better job.
sweet jesus this is painful. I mistakingly tuned in to 610 since they are at the texans' practice this morning. Not one intelligent thing brought up. And don't even get me started on the Anna Meagan segment. I would think after, how ever many years it's been, she would learn how to talk about football and not sound so trite and clueless.
I hope the radio callers troll the s*** out of McClain this week. "OH GNOES THEY HAD TO RESTRCUTRE A CONTRACTS"
To summarize Anna Meagan verbal trite impressions (at least she is kinda cute, huh?)... Mighty Casey is looking bulked and solid- great sign.. Brooks Reed is not making any mistakes thus far- looking very good on the field Mario Williams looks like he lost serious weight (maybe 270 something?) Tate is still looking like a rookie getting stuffed in the backfield a couple times Cushing is not practicing yet...minor bad sign- small injury recovery- actually maybe good sign since he was injure in camp his rookie year...
LanceZierlein Lance Zierlein .@jharrisfootball says JJ Watt is KILLIING IT at practice today Gotta love the fact that the first report on our 1st rounder is positive. I'm tired of missing on these picks, so hopefully JJ will make a big impact this year.
Awesome, ofcourse AJ is always good but I wouldnt mind Foster either. I like our LB core too, but anything works at this point.
