Vonta Leach Agrees to Terms With the Ravens Published : Sunday, 31 Jul 2011, 12:04 PM CDT MARK BERMAN- Sports Director Free agent fullback Vonta Leach has reached a contract agreement with the Baltimore Ravens according to his agent Ralph Vitolo in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "I have reached an agreement on terms with the Ravens on a three-year deal for $11 million, with about $6 million guaranteed," said Vitolo. "He's the highest paid fullback in the league." Leach was named Associated Press First-Team All-Pro last season and was a starter in the 2011 Pro Bowl. (Texans general manager) Rick (Smith) and (Texans vice-president/football administration) Chris (Olsen) did all they could," said Vitolo. "They were wonderful. "They just couldn't make the numbers work considering what the Ravens offered." Read more: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/spo...agrees-to-terms-with-the-ravens#ixzz1Thft5BOF
He's like the ray lewis of that offense now, and will pancake a lot of linebackers. I'm hoping ryans and cushing are not in his moons over hammy dish. Straight cash homie.
I guess if the Texans were going to lose their first Pro Bowl free agent, it might as well be a fullback. Still hate to see Vonta go.
FFS obviously if he only produces one good season then he'd be a bust career wise. If he produces a couple then no, he needn't be considered that. What he can be considered is a draft bust for the Texans but as a professional nfl player, I wouldn't call him a bust unless he calls it a career tomorrrow.
Vonta will be missed, but part of me is very excited to watch more James Casey. Having hands and speed like that at the FB position really opens up some interesting possibilities.
No way in hell we were going to come close to that. Good luck to Vonta, take the money and run! (not over us, hopefully)
All draft players signed JJWatt JJ Watt Officially signed as a member of the Houston Texans! Can't wait to hit the field & get to work. #DBWH
So what is left on our laundry list? A punter and maybe Ty Warren? I assume we're going with what we have on the FB situation.
John McClain said the Texans do like I think Lawrence Vickers from Cleveland to replace Leach. But I do hope they get a punter and Ty Warren. I still wouldn't mind signing a second veteran corner that could only allow Jackson on nickel packages.
