Bob has been good, this week, on his NFL stuff, lets see if he hits on this deal.

Wandy for Romaine and Laird is my prediction.

Sounds like Yanks want Wandy, by default...not sure how much value will get, if any.

Just hope if they send a ton back in salary it improves the deal.

Astros would have to eat huge chunk of Wandy Rodriguez contract to make a deal with the Yankees. #trades

lol because the Yankees really need the money and can't afford a TITANIC contract like Wandy's

    right?

if you don't want him, cashman, then don't trade for him. but don't pretend it's about money.

I'm a little suprised the Yankees don't want Wandy that much. I can't imagine we'd be asking the farm for him. Have they seen him pitch this year? DO THEY KNOW HIS POWER?! DO THEY?!

The Astros don't have to trade Wandy. The Yankees won't bid against themselves and if the Astros aren't offered a good deal or are forced to pick up a large chunk of the contract, why not have a veteran left-hander on the staff for the rest of the year? Wade shouldn't operate out of desperation on this deal. Teams needing a playoff boost should be desperate. The issue can always be revisited in the offseason. Plus, Wandy's contract is actually in line with his production, so it's not like he is crippling the team like Carlos Lee.

I think they want him, but not at much of a cost. They'd be paying Wandy $13M a year until he's 36, and as much as people talk about the Yankees having thin pitching, their starters are going 6.23 IP/GS with a 3.64 ERA and they have the 3rd best team ERA in the American League and lead the AL in SOs.

My guess is that if they can't dump his salary, the Astros want some legitimate prospects for Wandy, and they won't get any from the Yankees without eating salary.

Wandy has been pretty horrible against AL teams. 5.25 career ERA and 6.30 in the last three seasons.

I am getting kind of annoyed that the Astros are having to pay other teams to take our players off our hands.

I agree with that. It doesn't seem like we'll get much from Wandy, and for a control pitcher, he'll probably have a little more longevity than other players. I'd rather they keep Wandy and dump Myers for peanuts. But I know the Astros are desperate to trim payroll too.
