Chris Johnson only had a career .744 OPS in the minors. I never got the infatuation with him Frankly, Matt downs should get a chance to play everyday. He's only 1 year older and had an .837 OPS in the minors. Prior to this year he only had 169 plate appearances, so he's never really been given a shot in the bigs. I'm not saying he's the answer, he's probably just another washout, but we don't have any prospects and he's just as deserving as Johnson. And I've heard people compare JD and Altuve to johnson, and those comparisons are unfounded J.D. has a sterling .958 OPS, that never wavered at any level. Altuve had a great .867 OPS for a middle infielder, and seemed to get better with every level.
Any infatuation with CJ that may have existed stemmed from overreaction to a small sample size and a lack of knowledge of his abilities/potential.
The "we bad" stat of the day: Michael Bourn leads all qualified Astro hitters in OPS. We bad. I'm obviously not criticizing Bourn. He's more than doing his job.
I never said defense isn't important. I said its less important than pitching and hitting. No team builds itself around defense - they build around the others and fill in defense where they have holes. A team full of Adam Everetts would be terrible.
It's gonna be weird for El Caballo looking around the dressing room for the rest of his time in Houston... mostly a bunch of kids and AAAA type players. How many players on the current roster were even on the team when he signed with us? I can't think of any other than Wandy. That's what you get for sucking until it was too late. I almost wonder if he wished he could get traded at this point. It can't be fun for him to look around and see a full-fledged rebuild going on.
Love our new AAAA squad. Nice knowing you Brett Wallace As for Carlos, you think he cares he's playing with a bunch of nobodies and kids? No, I doubt it.
I actually think he might for the first time. No idea. Figure he has some pride. Don't care really though. Just sucks that we're stuck with him. If he didn't completely drop off, probably could've moved him, nabbed a couple of prospects and unloaded a bit of his salary.
Martinez is gonna hit for the cycle, knock in 10 runs and then midget toss Altuve in the dugout in celebration... and we're gonna miss it cuz it's a freakin' non-televised game. That sucks.
Honestly, why not just sit Lee and play Wallace? If anything, making Lee sit on the bench for like the rest of the season might make him angry enough to want to leave.
