I'll give it a 2 out of 5 simply because it wasn't the worst superhero movie I've ever seen. Way way way more cheese than I expected. Lynus' post summed it up pretty well. The first 3rd had a lot of promise and then it just went flying downhill.

Thor is better and X-men first class is on a complete other level of goodness.

Lol you realize this movie isn't about WWII right? I mean it's not Band of Brothers. It's superhero movie which happens to have a superficial WWII backdrop. It could have been set in 1970 against VC and the story wouldn't have been substantively affected. Why the **** do we need Nazis.

You also realize that this movie needs to make at least half its revenue from overseas. And most countries are not as fixated on Nazis as Jewish run Hollywood. Plenty of countries can think of ppl worse than Nazis... Chinese think Imperial Japanese, Croats think Serbs, Palestinians think Israelis etc.

I thought the movie was fine. Superhero movies, even the "good" ones are pretty much formula (any Xmen, Spiderman movie), or they are overwrought (Superman). The sad thing is the trailer was better than the movie, which isn't good. But overall watchable.

Captain America should've been set during the Civil War. Give it a more "American" feel to it. Hell maybe have him solve the crips/bloods war in more recent times.

I don't even mine him solving the Brides War between Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway.

Wasn't the whole point of this movie to get Capt's origin out there so that they could get the Avengers going? You can't really do this without Capt, being the team leader and all.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. With the new adaptations, it looked like they are looking to keep the storyline as close to the comic series as possible. The cube's power, the crashed plane (although altered), etc., are hard to change.

Yes. That was my point. Indiana Jones I and III wasn't about WWII either, but Jones still spent the whole movie defeating the Nazis. It would of been easy to just keep Red Skull as an agent of the Nazis and then just have Captain America destroying legions of Nazis as opposed to the Hydra soldiers (I have no idea who the Hydra soldiers even were or where they came from).

They were garish and distracted from the story. Captain America isn't bulletproof, so why did they need lasers?

I'll go ahead and apologize to my asian gf and 2 black roommates because I didn't like your little diamond of mastercrafted storytelling. Get out of here with that crap.

Hey your posts are like the laser guns of the BBS; numerous and dull.

I thought she was very mediocre. Maybe she isn't a hot blonde. I just googled her in her natural brunette color and she looks much better that way.

That's why I rated this movie kind of low because the last half of the movie was flat and there were not hot chicks to look at IMO.

I guess if you're not familiar with the comics and you expected this to be a nazi bash fest then the movie was probably disappointing.

lol, so you're THAT guy huh? "I'm not racist, I have a black friend hehe." So just because you have an asian girlfriend, its OK to use the word Jap? I had a Hispanic girlfriend, is it OK to use spic? I've messed with an Indian girl before, can I call her Ghandi? I've dated black girls before, can I use the word ni..... you see where I'm going with this.

I think they bypassed the Nazi thing because they want to be successful overseas? It feels like the trend nowadays is to make the enemy unassociated with any one country. It probably helps in the international box office, where often times more money is made.

I'm half Mexican and when I hear people say such slurs....

    ... it doesn't bother me. I don't care. I'm not that sensitive.

    Finally saw it.

I agree that the second half of the movie was a bit bad - not trainwreck bad, just not that well done. The pacing was bad. They really skimped on everything between Cap's first sortie and the final base. I can't remember a ******* name of any member of Cap's special squad. The sets were also really drab: forest after forest.

The fight choreography was great, though. Tommy Lee Jones was absolutely fantastic, as always.

couple of things from other posts..

Someone questioned how Cap got his training and that he went from the skinny guy to a combat effective...
He was in army training before he got the serum.

Someone wanted more explanation of his powers...I mean it's pretty obvious isnt it? He's super strong. i suppose it would have been neat to hear some detailed scientific explanation but i dont think it's necessary either.

I do feel that the flow at times was a little spotty at times and could have been better.

Xeroxbul... the sky vehicles being used with the props - seemed that the story took place before they had perfected the jet engine as the sole propulsion but the ships did have supplemental jets. The ship they used is/was very actually very similar to an experimental aircraft the nazis developed called the Trieblugel X plane.

    Movie was dumb!

Why couldn't he just turn the plane around at the end of the movie instead of crashing it? Didn't he also say if he waited any longer many lives would be lost, it seemed like the crashed plane caused minimal damage...

    dumb movie....

Agreed, the timeline wasn't exact....but then again, this is science fiction.
