RT @Ken_Rosenthal: Braves not one of main teams on Michael Bourn, at least not yet. Got in late on Pence. Reds, Indians, Nationals in. Jonmorosi
“@jcrasnick: #Astros efforts to move Michael Bourn are picking up steam, source says. Appears more likely he'll move by deadline. #trades”
Looks like we may have a repeat of last night... “@Buster_ESPN: From an NL evaluator: Atlanta working hard on working out a deal for Michael Bourn. His trade value never higher than right now;FA in '12.”
Crazy. Seems like there's little market for Myers and Wandy...the first two I assumed would be traded earlier in the season.
That 4th year option that vests if Wandy is traded is KILLING trade value right now. Myers has been better since June but not much value other then a salary dump and a single A prospect...I think.
i hope so too. Bourn is a just as good if not a better player than Pence. It's just there one less year of club control and it seems the perception of them around in the league is different. Whatever the case I would settle for an advanced elite arm like Minor or Delgado, but if Wade can do better then great.
It will never happen. We can point to all the stats and numbers and rating how Bourn is an elite player because of his defense and lead off ability, but you won't get a Pence-like return for him because he has been on a bad team without lots of publicity and has not won a batting title or something. Plus, he is basically only a 1.5 season rental, so that will limit his trade value some too.
You can thank that horrible contract extension for Wandy. It wasn't a bad deal, but WTF was Wade thinking with that option if traded.
What does that have to do with it? It's not like scouts only get their info from SportsCenter and reading newspapers.
Agree about rental lowering his value, but there are enough stat conscious baseball organizations to not worry about Bourn's fair market value.
