http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2011/07/29/broncos-taking-a-look-at-fb-leach/8435/ Broncos taking a look at FB Leach The Broncos are one of a handful of teams trying to sign former Texans fullback Vonta Leach. Leach, at 6-foot, 255 pounds, has spent the last five seasons in Houston. The Texans were trying to bring him back, but the Cowboys, Ravens and Giants are believed to be interested in the veteran’s services as well. Leach is classic fullback in that he’s had just three carries in his previous seven years in the league. Leach did have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee following the season, but by most indications is back to full speed and would be able to practice for any team that signed him.
Further confirmation that he didn't want to come here at all: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6...als-philadelphia-eagles-super-bowl-intentions "I think the Jets are a good situation, but we are, too," Banner said. "We have had and we will continue to have a defense that plays aggressive, physical and very fast. Our understanding was he was ruling out anybody who could not win a Super Bowl. Not that these things aren't true of the Jets, but we're considered a good opportunity in terms of the passion of the city.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Warren failed his physical with the Patriots, and would be interested in playing for either the Cowboys or Texans (Warren is a Texas native and played collegiately at Texas A&M). Warren would also be a very nice addition ...
You can add these two little addendums to him as well: <!-- https://twitter.com/#!/SI_PeterKing/status/97191549229731841 --> <style type='text/css'>.bbpBox97191549229731841 {background:url(http://a2.twimg.com/profile_background_images/11942999/si_twitter_back_6232.gif) #a1a9b6;padding:20px;} p.bbpTweet{background:#fff;padding:10px 12px 10px 12px;margin:0;min-height:48px;color:#000;font-size:18px !important;line-height:22px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata{display:block;width:100%;clear:both;margin-top:8px;padding-top:12px;height:40px;border-top:1px solid #fff;border-top:1px solid #e6e6e6} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author{line-height:19px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author img{float:left;margin:0 7px 0 0px;width:38px;height:38px} p.bbpTweet a:hover{text-decoration:underline}p.bbpTweet span.timestamp{font-size:12px;display:block}</style> <div class='bbpBox97191549229731841'><p class='bbpTweet'>I also hear Ty Warren can be had for something close to the minimum if he could go to a contender. Sign Ty Warren immediately. He's only 30, he has some time to heal. If anything, that would be quality depth for a reasonable price. So we've signed a guy named Bubba and a guy named Scooter? Wtf? Who's next? Cletus?
I know I'm being greedy at this point but why don't the Texans go after Asante Samuel? His Cap number will be between 6-7 million so it won't be a crazy figure. I would trade a 3rd rd pick for him right now, imagine JJ and Samuel as the corners with Manning and Quin at safety? #greedisgood
ScottCiglinsky Scott Ciglinsky #Texans DT Amobi Okoye for CB Asante Samuel? Makes sense, Houston switching 2 a 3-4 need for CB, we know the #Eagles good problem at CB now. CoreyScottMcF Corey McFarland Sources indicate Texans and Eagles are in talks regarding Amobi Okoye #seeyaasante WOW, Saw these two tweets regarding Okoye. The 1st source is a columnist for http://www.phillysportsspace.com/. I don't know who the other guy is.
The texans can't afford to get rid of smith. They don't have the depth. They need an additional lineman along with smith. Plus, teams won't be offering much for smith. Not because he isn't a good player but because he is pricey
Unbelievable. If the Texans somehow get Samuels here, AND get rid of Okoye all in one fell swoop, we can go ahead and cancel Christmas. How much more could we ask for in one off-season?!?
Calling BS on the 2nd guy. Pure speculation. Doubt that guy has any sources. Only 44 tweets, 7 followers. Probably saw that first tweet and then made up his own report.
I have been so disgusted, disappointed, and frustrated with the Texans for so long, I don't know what to make of these "tinges" of hope I am feeling. Is it possible that the Texans are actually going to make the transition from "sad sack" to contender in one season? We are seeing a complete makeover of the defense (something the UH Cougars should have done last year). Can you imagine how pumped the offense is to know that when they score, the other team may not score two TD's in the next minute.
