Make sense...probably Minor and Delgado along with Hoover.

I guess when you hemorrhage half your prospects for Jason Jennings and Miguel Tejada, when you make a trade you want to see some comparative big RETURN to replenish. Unfortunately it sometimes takes twice as many transactions to make up for really bad ones. No silver bullets, just have to stay making decent to solid moves.

Except all of those "prospects" are out of baseball... at least the higher touted ones.

Lets hope we didn't get lemons back for all the lemons we've sent out.

I just remembered that after Oswalt's not so pretty exit from Houston (semi-public disgruntled trade requests and what not), I believe it was Pence who made some sort of passing comment taking a subtle jab at Oswalt along the lines of: "I'm just glad it's over and the people that want to be here can focus on winning." I don't remember the exact words but it was something like that.

Not a big deal at all but it's interesting that Pence and Roy O will be reunited. I'm sure it won't even be mentioned and they'll be drinking a beer together tomorrow night or whenever they first get together.

    Bingo.

I was alluding to just that in an earlier post.

Edit: I actually misread that. I was referring to bad drafts, not trades.

Doesn't sound too interesting... basically will be getting a non-touted prospect.

Yep... worst case is we have younger lemons. Hope for better but these moves need to be made. Make enough of them and maybe you churn out 1 or 2 future big leaguers that help you win down the line. Combine that with the continued emphasis on volume drafting and eventually the ship will be righted, whether that's 2, 3, 4 years or more down the line.

    Good night, sweet Pence.

    Give 'em hell in Philly.

Let's be honest, of the people who are hating on this trade, who has seen any of the prospects play baseball?

    Not many.

I like the idea behind this draft. The Astros got younger. Singleton looks to have a shot at being great. He is the best player at his age at his level. Cosart's upside is greater, but more likely not to reach his upside.

We probably should be ecstatic we're getting something of value for him and the Astros are finally fully rebuilding. Pence would have done nothing for this team had he stayed, and his value more than likely would have continue to drop.

I'm sad to see him go, but it's necessary and we got some decent prospects in return.

Good trade. Now who wants Bourn, Myers, Lee, Barmes and so on?

One of the [very] few Wade moves I like. A necessary trade and for a merely good player whose stats will most likely come down to earth (the smarter Philly fans already realize this).

That's like having one of your nuts chopped off and pointing to the guy next to you who had both of his nuts chopped off.
