Impressive loot, though I was hoping we'd land Vance Worley... young, effective arm the Stros are in desperate need of.
Kinda like JA Happ? Actually, I guess not since the Phillies don't give away anybody they feel has real current upside.
I don't understand the PTBNL jargon. To me this never makes sense. What are the parameters, who can we ask for when they are named?
Basically, a player that will be decided upon at a later date by both clubs. Normally not a BIG prospect but you never know. Interestingly enough, it could also mean a draft pick from the prior year that isn't eligable to be traded yet. jaysonst Jayson Stark
Maybe... personally i think that if Villar finishes out the season playing like he is right now, then based off his ceiling he is prolly number one.
Money to Philly too?! You gotta be kidding me. Uncle Eddy never fails. jaysonst Jayson Stark Heyman: Astros sold high on Pence, still didnt get very much.
Lets see how J.D. Martinez and Kody Hinze finish the year. People ignored what they did at lower levels, but they are still tearing it up at double-a. They might shoot up some lists.
I dont know if they did good or not or how these guys will pan out. Obviously rated near the top but again, who knows how they will pan out. Someone mentioned it in that other thread, you expect to get something like this for your ace pitcher(see: Oswalt, Roy)
I would think with a deal like this that you hammer out that player NOW. Especially since they haggled for 3 days over it.
Based on stats, not impressed with this deal. Neither one of these guys is killing A ball. Both have pretty average numbers. I was hoping he'd get much more sure things for Pence.
13) Josh Zeid, RHP, Grade C+: Was a bit old for the Sally League, but numbers are excellent, scouting reports are good, and he pitched well in Arizona Fall League. I think he is underrated by other sources http://www.minorleagueball.com/2011/1/2/1908325/philadelphia-phillies-top-20-prospects-for-2011 Better then I expected...numbers aren't great but apparently has potential and nice SO numbers.
Cosart has an electric arm. He sits in the mid 90s. Singleton has been highly touted for a good while now. You're also getting two other guys. This was a pretty good deal in my opinion.
I could care less if they're highly touted or not. Neither one is showing it A ball, let alone the higher levels. Singleton has a .800 OPS at A ball, Pence had a 1.066 OPS at the same level, although he was older. Cosart's "electric arm" isn't producing great results in high A either.
