Looks like Pence might not be in this game for long...

At this point, Barmes' offensive numbers are slightly above the average for a major league player (average, slugging, OBP) and he is a very good fielder.

I guess what it boils down to is what other teams are offering for Barmes...which surely isn't much. So yeah, guess this would be the way to go?

5 points is a lot. I bet he doesn't get there. He's hitting way over his head right now. For his career, Barmes is a below average hitter just among shortstops (OPS+, wOBA). Even using just OPS, he's subpar and he spent most of his career at Coors.

His defense is very good, borderline excellent but he's 32 and has a hot bat. In a matter of weeks, the odds are that his offensive numbers regress to their norms.

Conclusion: Trade him ASAP. There is interest and his value will never be higher.

Here are all the numbers: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/elias-rankings/

Barmes is quite a distance from Type B and he's playing as well as he can, meaning he's headed for some regression. And he's getting old. Trade him now.

On the Braves, remember, they lost Schafer and now McClouth along with McCain to the DL...they need Hunter BADLY.

Sorry but this is interesting stuff...

Rockies are asking for Turner and Porcello or Scherzer to be in a deal for Ubaldo...that's a lot.

True but he's 32 so let's look at his career numbers and not just a partial season while he's hitting over his head. He is a subpar hitter just for his position when you look at it that way. Wait past the deadline and Barmes probably doesn't make Type B and his value will never be this high again. I see zero reason to keep him even if you can only get 1 semi-decent prospect.

Both should have high values since they will be in control at least through next year as well.

Reds will cave, they need Bourn badly. They have power but Stubbs is a bad leadoff hitter...vastly overrated.
