    Rosenthal...just tweeted it.

Edit - desperate move to win now and not very smart. Ubaldo doesn't seem like a #1, more like a solid #2, while Turner could become a dynamite #1B to Verlander.

A keeper? The guy is 32 years old and going be a free agent next year. Why would the Astros want him?

Dont ask me. I wonder the same. Why is Clint Barmes untouchable?

Wanted to add - it would only be Ed Wade/the Astros if they kept Barmes, extended him in the offseason, and looked to trade him next season, only to find little to no interest.

Man, that would be an unfortunate FAIL added on to what's shaping up to be an epic trade deadline for us.

True. Just another reason I can't wait till Crane cleans house. Everbody in baseball operations and the whole coaching staff has to go.

Whats to be creative about? They already got the prospects we want.

Maybe the Astros are looking to obtain a compensation pick for letting Barmes walk in the offseason?

I highly doubt he is a Type B free agent. I just don't understand what he see in Barmes. Sure he has been hot this month but the guy is 32 years old and you have your "shortstop in the future" in Jonathan Villar at AA who could be in the bigs by next year.

Smart man, risk he might accept arbitration but worth the shot. Villar or Mier aren't ready so he wouldn't be blocking anyone.

Will he even qualify for that? I forget how that all works but I guess MAYBE he's been good enough to garner Type B status...if I'm thinking along the correct lines here.

Barmes is about 5 points from being a B type...if he continues to play at this rate, he'll get there.
