    Dude I rattled off a list of reasons that were directly related to mcnair. Do you remember R2P2?? That's capers offense 'run run pass punt'. Who put in capers? umm mcnair. who wanted to take a pick with the first pick based on signability and cheapness? How can you tell me that doesn't translate to the field? Are you that deluded?

    Don't let a history of crap and facts get in your way there buddy. I am just plain blind.. I get it.

    And no I dont have hatred of the team itself but I dont believe in mcnair AT ALL.

    I am realistic and looking at the body of what mcnair has brought us translating down to the field and everything else that goes with it, sorry but I have my doubts. It's called reality. Don't cry about it ,and make open ended statements when you are the one that has nothing to substantiate.

    Sadly I am houston sports fans so that puts me with the hapless texans.. I prefer to call them the 'houston football team' so I can feel a little better about it but I do root for them.... I wish mcnair would take his sorry ass out of there, and sell the team to some real first rate ownership. Mcnair is our biggest problem ,and unfortunately he doesn't seem to be selling with all the sweetheart deals he has. tough to get through that I tell you...

    it was a joke a long time ago and then there is threads like this that are real headscratches .. I am all for ra ra but come on.. it's honestly kind of pitiful..
    let them win something or let mcnair do something to prove us wrong.. after all these years my money is on not likely

    I have no problem with anybody criticizing this team, and I am hardly the ra-ra type if you've ever heard me talk about the team. I whole-heartedly agree with you that, UP TO THIS POINT, Bob McNair has been a foolish owner, if nothing else. He's continuously been misguided as to where he should find leadership to run the organization, and where he should spend money. With all that being said however, I think even you can agree that yesterday was a GIGANTIC step in the right direction for this team. The signings that were made will obviously go a long way, when coupled with our draft, and our leadership on the defensive side of the ball. Even people who HATE the Texans (you notwithstanding of course) agree that this team is poised to do big things this season. Does that mean they will actually follow through on that? That's still left to be seen, but I don't think optimism from fans is something to be ridiculed, or something to be met with the hostility that you've used towards me.

    Like I said, you can continue to hate the team all you want....it not in any way, shape, or form bothers me. But, you're critical of the fact that he went with the first player to sign with the team. Would you rather have signed Vince Young, or Reggie Bush? How would that have turned out?? Cheapness? The team has been up against the cap every year of its existence. That's not cheap. Did he spend the money in the smartest ways possible? Obviously not, but that doesn't mean he wasn't willing to spend the money. Dom Capers was responsible for getting the Carolina franchise off the ground in such a hurry. At the time, people were lauding that decision to bring him here. Did it work out the way everyone wanted? Clearly not, but I still can't hold that against Bob McNair.

    Look, like I said in my previous post, this topic is not going to go anywhere. You have your beliefs, and I have mine. Nothing is going to change that fact. But, don't you think, if you are indeed a fan of the team (as you say you are), it would be much more fun to actually, you know, WANT them to succeed?? I'm just sayin'....

    As much as I wanted Kubiak gone...this was the one offseason where it was smart to not have a new HC. Can you imagine having someone come in and have only a couple weeks to completely implement a new philosophy? Would have been a bad move.

    Nobody here is expecting the Texans to have a top 10 defense. But, average?? You bet. You're adding a top 5 CB in the league, along with a top 20 safety, into a secondary that was bone-dry last year. Take into account the fact that everybody slides down one spot now, all of a sudden, things don't look so grim. Wade KNOWS what he's doing, and even more importantly, he KNOWS how to teach it. It's not a fluke that he's made a living out of taking sad-sack defenses and turning them into downright GOOD defenses in one year. It's his M.O., and I think he's done enough in his career for us to put a little faith in him. Again though, I completely understand the "wait-and-see" sentiment amongst fans since this franchise has never given us anything to be excited about, but I think optimism is ok this time around.

    Last season's defense has gotten a ton of crap (and deservedly so), but let's not forget about how slow our offense started out games last year...

    8 out of the 10 games we lost last year, we lost before we even started the game! When your "top-rated" offense cant generate any points or cant stay on the field, it'll put added pressure on your young and vulnerable defense!

    @Washington - down 20-7 at halftime (W)
    Dallas - down 10-3 at halftime (L)
    NYG - down 24-3 at halftime (L)
    KC - down 14-7 at halftime (W)
    @Indy - down 17-3 at halftime (L)
    @Jax - down 17-3 at halftime (L)
    @NYJ - down 13-7 at halftime (L)
    @Philly - down 20-10 at halftime (L)
    Baltimore - down 20-7 at halftime (L)
    @Tennessee - down 24-3 at halftime (L)

    I'm not saying that our OFFENSE was the problem... I'm saying that we shouldn't give a free-pass to our offense.

    We've improved our personnel in defense and we've seen that this offense CAN SCORE. Now its up to Kubiak.. and until he's still the coach, it's hard to be confident...

    ^Part of that was a terrible special teams. The return game sucked and Matt Turk kept giving opponents good field position. They didn't make the comedy of errors like the Giants/Chargers, but they were nearly as bad.

    When looking at the schedule I see us beating the Saints, I won't go as far as saying we take the division, but I'll make a tip jar bet with anyone we beat the Saints. I don't personally think the score will be even close.

    I look for a rocky beginning and a good finish. I am drinking the koolaid one more time. Turning the defense around and keeping the offense improving are the obvious keys, plus few injuries. The Colts with Manning are very hard to deal with, but I think a division title is more possible than anytime before. If we split with the Colts and Jags and beat the Titans twice, we are there.
