The Pony empire has grown stale and brittle.

The Jags and Texans have both been killing it this offseason.

I expect the Jags defense to be good, but their offense is going to hold them back.

The Titans are just going to suuuuuuuuck.

I think most are forgetting that, despite a historically bad defense, we were in it til the end against the Jags (hail mary), Eagles, Ravens, Jets...those are some of the "elite" teams and we were there til the very end.

The Texans have talent...with a completely revamped defense, we are on our way to beating up on teams pretty nicely.

We're in the pole position. Have to feel great about our chances this year.

The offense should play more relaxed now knowing it has a defense that can stop people. There is enough talent on this team that they should overcome Kubiak's horrible game management skills.

The AFC South is always available for the taking. Despite the Colts dominance, it wasn't that long ago that the Titans were the #1 in the AFC. This year I would expect either the Texans or Colts to win the division, with the Jags still finishing in the neighborhood of .500. The Titans are a mystery with a new QB and a new coaching staff, but they still have Chris Johnson.

I actually expect the South to be a dogfight.

Haven't read the thread, but my "knee-jerk" response to the question posed is that nothing is the Texans' for the taking. This has been great fun and all, but it's nothing but paper and numbers. The Texans have a lot to prove.

Go on then, boys. Prove it.

    it will still be tought.

The titans actually having a solid qb will help them alot, if he stays healthy.

Jax have seemed to improve themselves.

    Colts still have manning.

I think there will be a lot of epic games. For starters, opening day against the Colts....then the Falcons, Steelers, Bucs and Saints games are all circled on my calendar. The Jaguars have vastly improved their defense as well, so those games (as always) will be a dogfight. I have a feeling this is going to be a FUN year for us Texans fans. I think we're going to be playing some VERY meaningful games come December.

Just in terms of matchups though, it's great.

    Dunta vs. AJ
    JJ vs. Roddy White
    Schaub vs. Abraham/Edwards
    Matt Ryan vs. Mario/Watt
    Foster vs. Weatherspoon/Lofton
    Turner vs. Demeco/Cushing
    OD vs. Tony Gonzalez

    Marquee matchups everywhere you look.

Any chances the Texans game times start getting moved around, now that we won't have the worst secondary in the league again? The team will most likely have to start off hot before time changes.

its funny every year texans fans make statements like this.

Looking at the schedule my prediction is 8-8.

As long as mcnair is the owner I don't see this team doing much.

What does McNair being the owner have anything to do with the talent they are fielding this year?? We just upgraded our secondary with two of the bigger free agents that were out there, and we have a defensive coordinator who actually knows what he's doing for once. Couple that with the fact that our offense is still going to be potent, I would say this year fans have a LOT to be excited about. If you don't agree, that's fine, but at least substantiate it with something other than "lol Texans".

well, the Colts are waiting for Manning to agree on a new contract, which he will be the best paid player in the NFL, then you got Mathis, he is not happy with his contract, then you have to sign Addai.

Its not looking good for them, but they still have Manning, so they always be on the fight for best team in the division.

where have you been the last forever??(since they started the damn team)
-umm W-L ?? about a million points below .500 since inception?
    -boselli damaged goods pick?
    -hiring of capers?
    -hiring of casserly?
-picking a player based on signability and play if safe cheapo ownership http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQI4VYb6iGM
    -pay dunta?
-hiring of kubiak and that atrocious defensive assistant (name escapes me)?
-picking the sorriest name I have ever heard from an ex dallas team no less?

What has the owner done right? Brought us the texans?

Go ahead and sip on the mcnair myth, and keep telling yourself he is such a great owner. I love it when the texans first came onto the scene everyone was talking about 'class ownership'

based on what? besides that it sounds nice?

and lets talk a little about money grubbing and your tax money:

    from the article:
    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7424008.html

" The Harris County Sports & Convention Corp., a county-created landlord for Reliant Park, borrows $19.1 million from Texans owner Robert McNair. It uses the money to buy land for a Texans practice field and more parking. "

So what kind of scam is that? McNair lends money at what interest rate? And presumably makes money off the interest of that loan, and then gets the city to use that money to build a practice facility for HIS TEAM ?? And parking that HE CHARGES FOR? Then they continually raises the parking prices?

what kind of a scam is that?I want to lend money , and make interest off of it ,so that the money I lend can be used to make more money for me ..thankfully I can use that money I lent to expend on other aspects on my business? Umm am I following this right?

YEAH YOU ARE RIGHT I LOVE MCNAIR hand me another rubber I think I'm going to j*zz again at how great and cool it all is...

Again, I ask you, what does Bob McNair have anything to do with the performance of this upcoming season?? You said the team would be 8-8 simply because he is the owner, and I asked you to substantiate it with something based on personnel, or coaching. Bob McNair isn't a complete angel. Newsflash: Most billiionaires aren't. Honestly, I don't have an opinion of Bob McNair one way or another, but if you're going to have such hatred for the man based on the way he makes his money, I would suggest you look up the owners of every other sports team on this planet. I would be willing to bet that a large majority of them have gotten wealthy one way or another with not-so-cuddly methods at least for a short portion of their lives. It's the nature of business. Anyways, this is a go-nowhere topic, so carry on with your blind hatred of the team.
