The Jones resign pretty much kills that.

I don't think it'll be a huge concern. We looked lame last year with Johnson nursing a nagging injury and OD trying to get right. When those two are able to go, Walter shines.

Having said that, I would have chucked Jacoby's cement hands in the trash and chased a real fly route guy to pull safeties away from AJ.

lol, I love how every offseason people want to add another #2 WR, and we don't, and yet we still kick ass.

Daniels is going to kill it this year.

With our system, you can get by with possession receivers around AJ80. With Daniels back in the fold, he should help free up some more room for Walter to work underneath, and hopefully, Jacoby can make some big plays in the passing game and continue to progress as a WR.

There are other places where the money would be better spent. Keep putting money into the defense, the more good players/options you have back there, the more likely it is we make a serious run at the playoffs (and maybe even the division).

When Kubiak came to Houston, you can tell he brought a vision for the offense (scheme and players needed) with him. That helped him identify players that would help carry out that vision. For year, with Richard Smith and then Frank Bush, we didn't have someone who had the same kind of insight into personal and scheme on the defensive side (although Bush did a good job identifying LBs). With Wade, he has a system and years of experience in finding fits for that system, that's the biggest change this off season.

I think Rick Smith gets players that the coaches request/identify. The problem was that he was getting good advice/targets from Kubiak/Shanny/Dennison, but the defensive staff really didn't have a clue on how to build a defense.

Too bad they wasted years in AJ80's prime and a special, special season by Foster last year in learning this fundamental lesson.

I don't know how much truth there is to the Lechler rumor, but I really REALLY hope there's life to it. Our special teams would be such a big advantage.

Having the tools does not mean he deserves to start. If he can beat out Walter or Jacoby or whoever is playing alongside AJ, then by all means start him. But if he cant outplay David Anderson, then bury him on the bench.

He could be stronger, faster, smarter, and jump higher than AJ for all I care. If he can't get open, catch the ball, or block his man, give me Walter any day.

I never said he should start...I just said Id like to see him get some PT. Obviously, if he cant run or catch, he shouldnt be playing ahead of others that can run and catch.

    Take that, Mr. McClain:

    greggrosenthal gregg rosenthal
said it before: worrying about cap numbers overrated. motivated teams can find a way, especially this year.

He is a top 6-7 corner in the NFL. He is not Aso, but there is only one Aso. Also, the contract to Joseph is not that bad at all.

Well, I agree he should be given every chance to compete for PT, but anything he gets should be earned in practice, not just randomly awarded.

Give him 1st and 2nd team reps in camp to see how he fares, great. PT on game day is for those who have earned it.

I love how Peyton Manning's monster contract negotiations have kept the Colts from being able to sign *anybody* this offseason.

They will pay dearly for this.

How so? I'm genuinely asking, I don't know the details of cap space and such for the Colts.

Manning isn't willing to make any concessions apparently so the Colts are completely in the dark about what their cap will be like after he signs. He is not interested in taking a penny less or structuring his contract to be cap friendly apparently.

That seems genuinely befuddling on Manning's part. You'd think with all of the money he's earned from the dozens of commercials coupled with Colts money to date, that he'd give them a break.

The Colts prime with Manning is passing quickly. This doesn't sound like it'll do them any favors if that's the case.

What's Manning's motivation to handcuff his team like this?? He knows his window for getting another ring is closing fast, and he also knows they need major help in the offensive line (which is there to protect HIM), linebackers, and secondary. I don't get it.

Offtopic - did some idiot just call into 790 and suggest trading Arian Foster on the premise that he is a one hit wonder?! *facepalm*

[sarcasm] I can't believe a talk-radio caller could say something so stupid. [/sarcasm]

    Money.

Apparently he wants more per year in a multi-year deal than he could get as a franchise tagged player going year to year. It's insane.
