Thats what I said yesterday...If Aso didnt want to play for us, then he can **** himself. Texans did their part. I think we are actually better off how it played out with JJ and Manning. I was initially upset at the loss of not getting Aso because I wanted to sign the big name...but the combo of JJ and Manning is pretty awesome. We've essentially upgraded 3 of the secondary positions...thats incredible. I couldnt be happier right now as a fan.
AdamSchefter Adam Schefter Check out these #'s: Tampa Bay gave former Falcons punter Michael Koenen a six-year, $19.5 million deal that includes $6.5 million gtd. If this is what it costs to get a punter, i'd rather go with the undrafted guy
Major kudos to the front office making these things happen. I'm pumped and honestly believe we are now in the driver's seat in the AFC South. Let's go make it happen. Again, bravo, front office. This is the kind of offseason folks have been dying for. Cheers! It's nearly what I expected them to hand over to Sensabaugh. That would have been terrible. This is fine.
Please remember that Tampa has a ton of money they HAVE to spend this year. That's not the going rate for punters.
JaysonBraddock #Falcons release DE Jamaal Anderson. Atl exchanged picks with #Texans that yr in Schaub trade. Hou took Amobi. Revis drafted 4 picks later.
Tampa just took a giant dump in the collective punter market punch bowl. Now anybody we sign is going to look at that contract and say "look how much the market is paying for us!"
What the hell is TB doing? If you have to spend money, spend it on a skill position...they really just messed up the market for punters. I'll go with the undrafted guy then.
We'll see if it really messes up the market. I doubt most punters and their agents will expect that kind of money.
Now, go get a punter and some depth. The D-Line has no depth at all. Biggest weakness this team has is that if a player gets injured anywhere on the defense it's hard to replace them.
Yep, I said yesterday that I'd rather sign 2 good players in the secondary than 1 great player. The defense isn't 1 player away from being great. We sign ASSo and no one else, who is going to line up at SS? Nolan? Keo? Yeah, NO. We did the right thing.
1560 guys making good point right now. How sad is it that one of the most exciting days in franchise history in signing a non-pro bowl safety and a pro-bowl level CB. It's crazy how weak our history is.
We have Cody and Mitchell at DT. At the ends we have Smith and Watt. Amobi is going to be gone. Who else are the guys who will fill out the line depth that I'm missing?
I'm wondering if we could still pounce on one of the remaining CBs or safeties floating out there. If there's any way to wedge Nate Clements in, I'd have to change my pants. They won't do it....but I'd still rather move Quin back to the #2 CB spot (he was over his head as a #1) and snag a second safety to rotate with Nolan opposite Manning. Not a whine, but an aside. #1CB: Joseph #2CB: Jackson - Allen NB: Harris - Carmichael - McCain FS1: Manning - Nolan FS2: Quin - Keo Behind Smith - Cody/Mitchell - Watt Barwin/Reed - Ryan - Cushing - Williams Holy god did they revamp that defense in one offseason. This could end up being the best defense they've assembled. That's just mean and uncalled for!
