Cosart and Singleton were top 50 guys in the last top 50 midseason report and May has 151 SO in 121 innings with a whip of 1.26 this season...In theory, we could have 4 or 5 top 50 guys next season. All that before possible moves with Bourn and Wandy.

    I'm inclined to agree.

    This

    Should trump this:
I just don't see Pence being that much of a draw, honestly. Is he the best player on this team, maybe, I just don't really see that big of an attendance droop based solely on his being gone. IMO you'll see attendance drop because the team is terrible, with or without Pence. At least by trading him you don't lose him for nothing, and if you get lucky you may speed up the rebuilding a bit.

I'm sorry but you should know better than to expect logic from Drayton McClane wishes concerning trades/FA's (even if he is leaving), and you should definitely know better than to post something completely logical and sound!!

I just really want this trade done. There are have already been a few reports that the rest of the trade dominoes are being help up by everything trying to see what happens with Pence.

If they can pull this one off, I really think they will be able to quickly move Barmes and hopefully one of Wandy, Myers, or Bourn.

I love watching Pence, but it's time to tear it down and start over. I say trade him to the Phils and then flip Bourn to the Braves, who seem to need a CF. Those 2 should bring back a hefty return. Top it off by accepting whatever is offered for Barmes. It looks like there's a market for Wandy but not Myers. That should get our farm system re-stocked in a hurry and give us a chamce to really turn it around in 2013 or so.

“@Buster_ESPN: Huge bidding war going on for Hunter Pence. His current ML rank in batting average: 18th. On-base percentage: 50th. Slugging pct.: 54th.”

Goog god, Wade may get away with this. If he does and pairs it with good Wandy/Bourn deals....gulp....he might have earned to stay on.

“@Utley4God: As per Buster Olney on @MikeandMike, looks like the Braves are willing to discuss their top 4 pitching prospects for Pence.”

a lot of us have been saying it all along...the guy has done a better-than-average job when it comes to his trades.

that said, i'd still dump him for friedman in a heartbeat, but, if that's unable to happen, if he has a huge trade deadline, i'd say he would earn another year.

gonna be an exciting couple days. huge week in texans and astros history.

I was against trading Pence at first, but if teams are willing to overspend for him then yeah goodbye.

Observation from an NL official about the Braves' interest in Hunter Pence: "They don't value on-base percentage as much as other teams do."

Atlanta owes us for Walt Weiss' ridiculous plays.

Fred Brocklander, Lenny Dykstra, Jim Leyritz, Jim Edmonds...some people should never be spoken of in polite company.

Pence may go now, but I'm hearing ask price remains unreasonable. #rays being more reasonable with upton. #tradedeadline

Jayson Stark listed that play by Weiss against Tony Eusebio's should have been game winner as the 6th greatest defensive play of all time.

I haven't seen that list...was Mays' over the shoulder catch #1? Brooks Robinson?
