Colts have been showing signs of decline and this year might finally be it, with Manning injured. Titans have no QB. The only team to look for I guess is the Jaguars, but even they aren't that good. I know Texans have a lot of work to do but on paper no reason Houston doesn't win the division imo. It would take an epic fiasco by Kubes and/or major injuries to prevent it.
Texans have an upper tier QB, best WR in the league, one of the best RB in the league, one the best DLineman, LBs and now one of the best CBs in the game. We better be in contention with the Colts.
Remember we had the historically worst defense in the history of the USA last year. It's gonna take more than a CB and a few rookies to turn it around.
I agree, it's never looked better for them going into a season. On them to be more than paper tigers.
New DC, Demeco coming back, Cushing for a full year, experience for Jackson, signing of Joseph, IMPACT rookies coming in and most likely adding an upgrade at safety....I'd say we've improved our D imo.
The jaguars are a pesky bunch always. But I would love to see a better game plan, enough with trying to surprise the colts with an aerial attack when they can't stop the ground attack. Got to start winning some battlefights.
If i were an outsider, the Texans are clearly the best team in the division, so it is ours for the taking. But the division was ours for the taking last year also. I'm not an outsider, I'm a texan fan, so i know better than to expect anythng from this squad. I would love to be proven wrong though
New DC...and a new system for everyone to learn. Demeco coming back...but we still sucked when he was playing, and will he be 100%? Cushing for a full year...but we still sucked when he was playing. Experience for Jackson...doesn't mean he'll be any good. IMPACT rookies...we don't know if they're impact. Basically the only sure improvement is Joseph.
All in all I'd say this was maybe the most productive offseason we've had. This team has not disappointed me this offseason...but the sundae ain't complete without the cherry on top. Get that safety guys..
Given the roster situation you could have a rosy outlook, but with the schedule and lockout into consideration it is a bit tougher to predict. I mean the Texans first 6 games are vs. Indy @ Miami @ Saints vs. Pitts vs. Oakland @ Baltimore That is 4 playoff caliber teams with established QB's and coaching staffs, while Wade has a limited amount of time to get this defense up and running. Even in a regular off-season with workouts, mini-camps, and a full pre-season that is a daunting starting schedule. Plus Miami and Oakland are not push overs. Then there are rivalry games @ Tenn and @ Jax right after that too. This team is going to have to get it together quickly to be a real factor unless it wants to face the up-hill climb praying other teams screw up giving them a wild-card spot.
Mr Clutch, how many games did Cush and Ryans play together last year? And how many games did we waste Cush at MLB??
Unsure. We have a touch schedule, especially right out the gate. And we will be trying to incorporate a new defense, with a completely new secondary and our best lineman is switching positions. Definately looks like the best team we have put out there though. Now if only we could get a real coach.
Whats the Starting Line up looking like? DE Antonio Smith DT Shaun Cody? DE JJ Watt OLB Brooks Reed/Connor Barwin? ILB DeMeco Ryans ILB Brian Cushing OLB Mario Williams CB Kareem Jackson..? CB Johnathan Joseph FS/SS Glover Quinn Danieal Manning Is that how it's looking like?
