Like most, I would have been absolutely thrilled if we got Nnamdi; but throughout the day hearing those big dollar figures being thrown around and phrases like "Houston is in the lead..." gave me Carlos Beltran flashbacks. I was worried that we had another stalking horse situation here on behalf of the Jets or the Giants or some other party.

From everything I've seen, Johnathan Joseph is hardly a "consolation prize." I applaud the Texans for not getting dragged out while Nnamdi pursued a higher paycheck with a team he really wanted to go to (and I don't fault the man for that, no hate from me) and they made the move that will still improve the team at a lower price, and possibly for longer.

I am looking forward to the moves that we have remaining - one of which I hope is re-signing Vonta - and I can't wait to see Joseph in a Texans uniform next season and beyond!

Overrated, IMO. Texans weren't that good rushing the ball with Vonta, before Arian started. More Arian than Vonta, though they had chemistry. I think we'd do well with Casey, who could be a bigger passing threat out of the backfield. I think Vonta will be back though.

I guess Texans felt like Aso wasn't gonna come. I really wanted Aso but at least they got someone to improve our secondary.

Joseph is no slouch, way better than gambling big and losing big and ending up with no one which would have been a complete disaster.

It's refreshing to see a Houston team not get played in the FA market for once. Astros and Beltran. Rockets and Bosh. I like that the Texans had other options cooking, and decided to be proactive and pull the trigger.

And let's face it, with this defense, a marginal upgrade would probably pay huge dividends. They didn't have to get Nnamdi to get better.

    Here a very interesting site:
    http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/05/20/cornerbacks-cover-snaps-count/

The problem with football is we don't have a billy beane or a morey running things. We really too much on anecdotal statements or use stats like int that don't truly reflect how good a corner is.

In any case the stats bear out that nnamdi is by far the best CB in the league while JJ is a middle of the pack corner.

Glover quin was one of the worst, but we already knew that.

However he is a huge upgrade to the crap we have now. However I wish the texans had decided to for pujols instead of jayson werth.

Best part that I can see is that we still have the capability to make other upgrades!

You know how I know that website is stupid? They use "HST" as the abbreviation for Houston instead of "HOU".

    Stupid

I really had blinders on for Weddle or bust so I haven't studied the available safeties too much.. how does Manning compare to Landry? Altho I don't know too much about them, I personally wanted Landry more simply bc he was from the Ravens...

Not an expert, but Manning is very good in coverage and Landry is more of a true strong safety. Hard hitter but not great in coverage.
