You can't force somebody to do something they don't really want to do. Texans made a competitive offer. Now if the Bucs are really going after him with huge numbers like 20 million/year, more credit to them. They have TONS of cap space... without John McClain contract restructuring required.
This will sound like I'm kidding, but if they upgrade their punting situation I will be so happy. Special teams have been atrocious.
Sepulveda is a great punter and upgrade over Matt Turk but he has had three ACL tears on his right knee but he is a lefty.
Wonder what Carlos Rogers wants to sign for. Would be awesome to add him and Manning to Joseph. A legit defense. probably asking for too much.
I think the reason the Bucs are just coming in with that 20 mil offer is because, they too, like the Texans, just figured out that restructuring of contracts is in fact possible.
Sic em! Get him in a Texans uni. I love the direction of this offseason. Don't mind the Debbie downers, guys.
Yep, he broke a ton of signings. Even Schefter gave him props on one of his tweets. Normally he is VERY hit or miss but he has been WAY more hit then miss this week.
If you go by ESPN player ratings it's Nnamdi Asomugha CB 93 Johnathan Joseph CB 83 Dunta Robinson CB 76 So Nnamdi is a 9 and Joseph an 8.
AdamSchefter Adam Schefter RT @McClain_on_NFL: Houston gives J Joseph gets 5 years, $48.75 million and $23.5 guaranteed, including $12.5 signing bonus. Thats a good payday for JJ
I'm not disappointed because we pretty much knew he wasn't going to sign here over a better team unless it was an insane offer. It's not close to the Beltran comparisons. Texas D just needs to be league average and we're playoff bound.
They probably saw John McClain's tweet earlier and promptly did some research and found it to be true, you can restructure some contracts.
Why do people care how much Namdi gets paid when looking at the Joseph salary? Even if he goes to the Jets for 8 million it doesn't mean we could get him at that price. What we paid for Joseph was market value and a great deal regardless of whether Namdi works for free or for $20 million.
It should be noted how much ground John McClain broke this year with this restructuring contracts idea. The NFL will never be the same.
Manning showing good closing speed and great form on this pass breakup: <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2c7N15lh0Ts" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Solomon: Now, the Texans have to sign a safety. They are after Danieal Manning, but not in it alone, according to someone familiar with the negotiations. Texans’ defensive coaches like Manning, but my guess from talking to people who know the situation, the Texans are going to have to be the highest bidder or very close to it, to get this done. As much as Manning wants to play here, this is his first opportunity to sign a good contract, and it could be a five-year deal. The money is important. This could end up being a big night for the Texans. It has already been a pretty good day
