I bet the rest of the NFL was wanting us to get him. Now the rest of the NFL is screwed going against the Jets.
texans would look REALLY bad if they backed out of the deal. It's one thing for a player (stokely) to do it, but for a GM he'd lose credibility with the rest of the players.
If that's so, I applaud them for not allowing the possibility to get "played". This is exactly what we were talking about earlier. Regardless of why Nnamdi was waiting (you say it was to get the most $$$ overall, I say it was to allow the Jets to bend over backwards for him and come close to our money), the Texans took it upon themselves to seek other reliable options when Nnamdi didn't simply say "yes". The only downside is now the Jets may not have to give Nnamdi as much $$$ because of the lack of competing offers... or the Cowboys may swoop in and blow them out of the water.
I tip my hat to the Texans FO for their job so far. I haven't had a lot of chances to do it over the years, so I figured I'd do it before they go and f*** it all up.
I'm content with Joseph. Just ready to see the contract, then see Nnamdi's, and see if the Texans get a safety.
In my opinion... Nnamdi's loss. You dont want to play for the Texans? Go **** yourself. See you in the AFC Championship. Good luck, AJ will rape you, kthxbye.
I'm perfectly ok with that. We've been held hostage one too many times, and it's not fun. If we ended up waiting on Aso only to be left at the altar with no other options, that would have been a fail of epic proportions. This way, we can now focus our attention on getting a safety now (or even Cromartie if at all possible).
I pray to god the cowboys dont swoop in, i rather deal with jets stacked then have stupid cowgirl fans celebrate about getting a player we almost had. we did blow some of the leverage aso had, he may have to really consider staying in the bay now. i dont see him signing for less than revis.
this is pretty much just speculation, but there have been TWO instances on twitter referring to CRO coming to houston.. When him and chad johnson were talking about moving to htx when the lockout ends.. and once he asked brian cushing whats going on, and brian cushing responded, "nothing man just looking for a house for you to move into when the lockout ends" so he's def. wanted here by players, and im sure players would be willing to reconstruct contracts to get someone like him oppositing joseph..
Johnathan Joseph Strengths: Exceptional athlete; great speed with very fluid hips; Agility and Acceleration are top notch; At best in man coverage. Excels in routes where the wide receiver has to make a sharp cut (comebacks, ins and outs, slants), this is due to Joseph's agility and anticipation. Joseph is almost as good in zone coverages as he is in man, he does a good job at disguising his coverage in order to bait the ball to be thrown in a specific area. For example: He's assigned a short zone in the flats. Joseph will bump the WR and begin to run down field with him creating the illusion that the flats are open for a tight end or a running back. Once the ball is thrown in that direction, Joseph is already peeling off of his WR to make a big hit or knock down the ball thrown into the flat. Joseph has become a good tackling cornerback and will lay a shoulder into a bigger player. He's not scared to hit. Joseph also does and excellent job of getting his arms and hands on the ball for pass breakups. Weaknesses: Bigger WRs can give Joseph troubles. Jump balls and fade routes hurt him the most because he doesn't have the best ball skills. He can lose sight of the ball and can't recover to make a play. His ball skills have dramatically increases since he was drafted, but he still misses a few more interceptions than you'd like. Nagging injuries have hurt Joseph's production and reputation. He's never had a serious injury, but every season something comes up where he misses a couple of games. He also has played left CB exclusively for the majority of his career. Overall: In my opinion, Johnathan Joseph is the Bengals best all around cornerback. The Cincinnati defense plays a lot of singe high (one safety in deep coverage) and man coverage underneath, which means only one safety over the top to help the corners. Most of the time, that safety is shading over to Leon Hall's side. That's about the only time you see Joseph get beat deep. He's a top-five physical talent at the cornerback position. When he's close to 100 percent healthy and the rest of the defense is on their game, Joseph is a rare shut down cornerback. I've seen him completely lock down one side of the field and force offenses to start looking elsewhere. Joseph is a vital piece to the Bengals defense and he is irreplaceable at this point. If anybody expects to sign him, it could be around the five year, $50 million deal range.
Cro and Manning would be a stellar way to polish off FA, and if we can bring Leach back, it'll be a killtacular.
Here's what tubby said.... McClain_on_NFL If GM Rick Smith passed up Joseph and waited on Asomugha and lost out to him, Texans would have kicked themselves.
