I know it's really a bad thing...but there's just something funny about the word "infarction".

Tweet is bogus. I'm looking on Clutchfans, Texans Talk, and Gang Green, and both Jets and Texans fans are worried about losing out on Aso.

of course, Twitter is what's informing about 90% of the updates you're reading on Clutchfans, at this point.

    I'll quote Rovell's next tweet. :)

    http://twitter.com/#!/darrenrovell

It's almost always about the money. You better believe players care about every penny that's in their account. The biggest problem for Houston, and this goes to MadMax as well... the actual offer usually isn't there. In the case of Bosh and Carmelo, the Rockets had nothing to actually offer. It depended on trades. In the case of Beltran, the Mets offer was $14 million more than the Astros, and we were foolishly hoping that the tax issue might help close the gap.

In this case, we're talking about a supposedly superior offer from a Houston team, with the tax savings added on top of it. I can't think of a comparable scenario to this.

Considering the Jets is where Asomugha would prefer to play, I think no news = good news for Texans.

Asomugha is probably just waiting on the Jets to up their ante to match the Texans. He will wait until the last minute to see if the Jets will match. If not, Asomugha has no problem playing with his boy, Andre, and cashing in with the most lucrative offer from a state with no state tax.

You think players are willing to publicly admit the reason for their decision is because they get to keep more of their millions?
I agree that it doesn't seem to make a difference though.

We should have a package ready for JJ so if we lose Nnamdi we can pick him up immediately.

Actually, the Beltran offer was only $7M less, and Beltran said he was more interested in the better no-trade clause that NY gave.

I wish the Texans would break their tradition of disappointing their fans and do some surprisingly encouraging. That would be nice. Chances of happening?

no...but i don't see an influx of free agents because of it, either. this is something we tout over and over again...i just don't see it as being that impactful. it gets brought up everytime we start talking about free agency for any of our teams.

agreed -- if the tax savings and better housing for the $$ were such a big deal, why aren't more marquee FAs landing here? bottom line, it must not matter as much as we play it up to matter.

Come on New York let us have our moment, you sign all the key players in every sport and if you lose on Nnmandi you pretty much guarantee will have Cromartie. You tried for Lebron you got Amare and eventually Carmello, we tried for Bosh we got Brad Miller. I need this!

When was the last time the Texans or Rockets had real cap space to pull off blockbuster signings? Mcgrady wanted to come here when he was a top 5 talent. Yao never tested the FA market.

The last time the Texans probably did was when we had a pathetic roster.

This could be good for the Texans.

not very good, but better than other years if that helps. They're trying really hard and we should give them credit for that.
