So at what point can we start calling Kody Hinze a prospect...OPS after a two run homer tonight is now 1.073 with 5 homers since being called up to CC. Now has hit 27 bombs total this season.
Yeah I think 10 hrs, 47 SB, and a .345 OBP for a 20 year old centerfielder in AA is pretty good. He is also considered a stellar defensive outfielder with a great arm at a premier position.
He also strikes out 1 every ~4 plate appearances. Dude is fast, dude is a great fielder, but if dude can't make consistant minor league contact....But yeah, my bad and you're right, he is having a good year. Hadn't cared enough to look him up recently.
Well, this one is easy. Seriously? His body of work this season justifies turning him into a LOOGY? I would have had him start the rest of the season in Corpus and give him a shot at a rotation spot in the spring. Aristil has been unimpressive, and Abreu's 27. Cedeno's been infinitely better than those two.
Here is the line for Henry Sosa from last night's CC game: 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO. Sosa was part of the Keppinger trade.
Sosa has been dominant so far, shouldn't be to long before he is at AAA again. I know he's had issues with his secondary stuff but that fastball was getting up to 96-97 last night. The bullpen didn't work for him with the Giants org so maybe Hooten can work with him to develop something besides his heater.
OKC's bullpen had an epic fail against Nashville, as they allowed 2 each from the 8th to the 10th innings to turn a 9-5 lead into an 11-9 loss. Koby Clemens had a 2-run homer, his 14th. Anderson Hernandez and Robinson Cancel each drove in 2. Brian Bogusevic, J.R. Towles, and J.B. Shuck drove in 1 each. Brad Hennessey, and I don't know why he's in the organization, went 3 1/3, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits (3-run homer), walked 1, and struck out 4. Sammy Gervacio, Douglas Arguelllo, Jeff Fulchino, and Ross Wolf combined on the meltdown. Kody Hinze and J.D. Martinez went deep in Corpus' 11-1 pounding of San Antonio. Hooks pitchers combined on a 3-hitter, all of them allowed by Henry Sosa. In 7, he allowed an unearned run in the 6th, walked 1, and struck out 9. Jason Stoffel walked 1 and fanned 2 in the 9th. Hinze's 2-run homer gave him 5 with Corpus and 27 overall. Martinez's solo shot was his 12th. He added another RBI and scored 3 times. Jacob Goebbert drove in 2. 5 others drove in 1 each, among them Jonathan Villar and Jimmy Paredes. Lancaster was off. They're in San Jose tonight to play 4, then it's off to Bakersfield on Sunday. Jose Cisnero gets the start tonight against Craig Westcott. Lexington was held to 4 hits in a 2-0 loss to Savannah. Angel Cuan of the Sand Gnats allowed 1 hit for the Legends in his 6 innings. Ruben Alaniz allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 6, walking 2 and striking out 4, but obviously, he got the loss. Tri-City was off. They are back home tonight, welcoming the State College Spikes to Troy for 3, then the Auburn Doubledays come in on Saturday. Jonas Dufek takes the mound tonight. The Spikes counter with Matt Benedict. Greeneville's 9th-inning rally against Johnson City fell just short, as they lost 8-7. Ruben Sosa went 2-5 with a double and 3 RBI. Chase Davidson went 2-5 and had 2 RBI. Jordan Scott and Josh Magee drove in 1. Ariel Ovando went 0-5 with 2 K's. His BB:K ratio stands at 3:22. Ricardo Batista went 2 1/3, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits, walked 4 and failed to strike out a batter. The Gulf Coasters came out on top, 8-6, over the Cardinals. Alfredo Gonzalez and Yonathan Mejia drove in 2 each. Dan Adamson, who has missed over a month for Lexington, began his rehab assignment, going 0-2. Michael Feliz went 2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits (solo homer), fanning 1. Evan Grills got the win in relief, pitching 4 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 1. The Academy topped the Yankees 4-3 in 10. Juan Santana went 3-5 with an RBI. Tomas De La Cruz drove in the other run. Rey Guduan allowed 3 hits in 5 shutout innings, walking 2 and fanning 5. Felix Ramirez allowed the tying run in the 9th, but bailed himself out, and was bailed out when Cristian Murillo scored on an error on a Jose Solano single in the 10th. Kelvin Santana allowed a hit and struck out the side in the 10th for the save.
OKC took down Memphis by a score of 6-3. The Redhawks allowed 3 in the top of the 9th, but it was all OKC in this one. Lucas Harrell shut out the Redbirds in his 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, walking 3, and fanning 8. J.B. Shuck went 3-4 with 2 doubles and scored twice. J.R. Towles had a 2-run double. Collin DeLome and Koby Clemens went 2-4 and drove in 1 each. Corpus allowed 6 runs in the 8th to San Antonio, which broke a 6-6 tie, and turned into a 12-6 loss. Jacob Goebbert went 3-4 with a triple and 3 RBI. Jimmy Paredes had the other RBI and stole home. Jonnathan Aristil went 4 1/3, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits, walking 4 and striking out 2. Xavier Cedeno got 1 out in the 8th, but allowed 3 runs and walked 2. All 3 runs scored when Henry Villar entered the game. While I don't necessarily agree with Xavier Cedeno's move to the bullpen, keep in mind that he missed all of last season, and this year is basically the first time he's pitched 100 innings in a season. I'm guessing an innings cap is in play here. Jose "Home and Away" Cisnero found himself on the mound in San Jose, and this one went a whole lot better than his other road starts. He went 6 1/3, allowed 1 run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. Lancaster shut down the Giants, 6-1. David Flores went 3-5 with 3 RBI. Jose Thompson and Jonathan Meyer drove in 1 each. The recently demoted Kyle Greenwalt pitched 2 2/3 scoreless, walking 1 and fanning 1. Lexington was off last night. They are back home to host Rome. First pitch at 7:05 Eastern, as Luis Cruz gets the start. In another low-scoring game, Tri-City fell 2-1 to State College. The ValleyCats have scored 12 runs in their last 7 games. They've gone 2-5 in that span. Jonas Dufek went 5 1/3, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 5. Drew Muren had the only RBI on an out. Tonight, Tri-City sends Euris Quezada to the mound, while the Spikes counter with the highly touted Stetson Allie. Falling behind 8-1 after 2 innings is a usually a death sentence. Greeneville found themselves in that predicament against Kingsport. They would go on to lose 13-8. Ariel Ovando went 1-4 with 2 RBI, but both of them were made off outs. Darwin Rivera doubled and drove in 2. 4 others drove in 1, led by Jose Monzon. Tyson Perez was shelled, going 1 1/3, allowing 8 runs on 7 hits (solo and a 2-run homer), walking 2 and striking out 2. Breaking news from Brooks Parker, aka Subber10 of The Crawfish Boxes, in a tweet to Steve Duer of Appy Astros: The Gulf Coasters were held to 5 hits, all singles, in a 7-0 loss to the Mets. Dan Adamson had 2 of them. Francis Ramirez went 4 1/3, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, walking 4 and striking out 5. The Academy topped the Indians 2-1, as Teoscar Hernandez and Frederick Serrano drove in 1 apiece. Agapito Barrios went 4 1/3, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, walking 1 and fanning 5. Javier Saucedo got the victory in relief, pitching 2 2/3 scoreless, walking 1 and striking out 1.
One player went the other way when Adrian Houser was moved up to Greeneville, and that player is..... Luis Ordosgoitti. Like the promotion, not really sure what to think about the demotion.
A hypothetical question for y'all. Lets say a man badly needed to get away and wanted to take a weekend to watch the OKC Redhawks. Should he go and watch them play the Iowa Cubs (Cubs), the Colorado Sky Sox (Rockies), or the New Orleans Zephyrs (Marlins)?
lol, this. Two rough outings.... possible mechanics issues? Hopefully his stay in the GCL won't be long.
