I'm guessing he will do fine too. But if the unthinkable happens and Mario completely flops, I could see the Texans trying to get some value out of him before he walks away or demands a king's ransom.
Or maybe he's baiting listeners to call in, nothing like a little drama to keep the audience interested.
Here's a hypothetical... What if Brooks Reed and Connor Barwin are both electric pass rushers and Mario is only average and can't drop back at all? Realize how much money the Texans could free up by moving on?
I'll never forget "Mighty Gwin" saying Drayton made all of his money in oil or asking an MMA expert he had on his show whether Fedor was ever going to fight. (The MMA guy was there to hype Fedor's fight the next night)
Don't forget Dorin Dickerson. And if Vonta is re-signed they might just carry 4 WRs on gameday, with Casey able to play some in the slot if needed.
It will be a tough call if that happens. Say Mario's sack numbers are flat, but the team as a whole does very well. If the coaches think his contributions are still vital, they may pay up anyway. He's one of the faces of the franchise and we all know he's a special player. We just need to be open minded about our judgment of him this year.
I swears it, if the Cowboys somehow swoop in and take Asomugha....I might just go burn Dirks house down and cut off his hair.
Deservedly so, and I'm not ready to give them any credit for just trying. They've done so little to inspire faith, they don't deserve any credit until they get something done.
