The ****ed up thing is Enterprise is actually a hard job to get even right out of college with a bachelor's degree because of the competition they have a lot of good candidates to choose from.

A guy I went to HS went this track, he ultimately made it fairly high in the company and by 30 was making 100K a year in Houston. However, he was very good at it, and with the economic down turn is making about 25% less.

It is VERY hard work, and long hours, but it is a REAL job and there is some chance for advancement. It is far better than working at Walgreens at $8 an hour. Besides, you are in Montana (a beautiful state), but not a great place for white collar jobs.

Overall, congrats on getting a job and make the most of it. It isn't the best, it is hard work but it is so much better than most the alternatives.

    WELVOME TO REALITY.

College degree's are a dime a dozen.... hell, graduate degree's are becoming extremely common... and as a result, the supply is greater than the demand.

Unless you are going to med school, there is no guarantee of a good job. Even lawyers are struggling to make 50K a year. I know some CPA's and a chemist that cannot find work.

The economy is really bad... and that includes white collar jobs...

I am lucky, I was able to position myself prior to the collapse... I do not envy recent college grads.

Yeah, I don't think people get that. You don't have to work on wall street or some research and development firm to make a lot of money. Sometimes the best opportunity are at these grunt work jobs that nobody wants.

Even at Mcdonald's you could find yourself making a 100k a year. It's not what job you have, it's how you apply yourself to the job that you are given.

What this guy said, assuming you are in their mgmt trainee program (or something like that). However, the economy sucks now and congrats on landing a gig. I know tons of folks who can't find a job right now.

Oh, and thanks in advance for hooking the board up with discount codes!! :)

It's a great job to have. Bust your butt and you'll move up quickly. I started on Dec. 21 and I was promoted to the airport on May 5. Only the best go there. I'm going into my 8th month and I'm taking MQI on Aug. 10 and I'll be an Asst. Manager. after I take that test.

By next next year I expect to be a Branch Manager which is basically $65k a year and you get your own company car (You only pay $100 a month for the insurance and gas).

Area Manager is the next step and they make $100K and that's after five years in.

Work hard and play harder. I love working with people at my branch. Lots of young people and I can't complain with the girls I work with.

I worked there from 96 to the end of 99 and this was basically my experience.

Busted my butt as a management trainee, got an assistant manager position after 6 months, and was a manager a year after that. Not too bad for a music major who suddenly decided he didn't want to be a high school band director after he graduated...

It was a work hard, play hard kind of job. Most everyone who works there is in their 20's and even the higher-ups are only in their 30's. Young, fun environment for sure. And yes....LOT'S of nice looking women. The Thursday evening "sales meetings" (at SRO) were always a lot of fun.... :)

One good thing about the company is that every single person who works there starts out as a management trainee. Everyone you deal with has been where you are. You definitely work your ass off. What do you do if someone needs a clean car fast and your car-prep is out to lunch? You get out there and wash it yourself - in your shirt and tie.

Anyway, good luck. Sell that damage waiver and you'll go far.

Welcome to the new globalized economy - the physical nature of these jobs means they can't be outsourced and are thus the new entry level job for college grads...hooray for America, lots of cleaning, fixing, and servicing of our economic betters in the future.

It may sound like a great opportunity if they offer you the chabce to beam down to the surface with the captain, but if you're wearing a red uniform, I'd advise you don't go.

So is the damage waiver really a ripoff? Aren't you covered with your regular insurance or with your credit card?

I walked into Enterprise yesterday for the first time and they immediately stopped what they were doing (washing cars in suits) and offered me the airport assignment.

Then I told them to **** off.

Congrats on the job. I know tons of new grads that are struggling to find any kind of work. Just work hard, put your time in and you'll move up. Enterprise is actually really aggressive about hiring new grads and has a very good structure of moving you up provided you work hard, so there's always that to look forward to.

Yes it is, the wife is an insurance agent and she says its like buying double coverage.

Anyway, to the OP, congrats on the new job. I still remember getting my first real check from my job after college, seemed like a fortune! Best of luck!

Thanks for all the responses guys. I guess I kinda know what I'm getting into, but I wanted to hear everyone's input. Yes, it is the management trainee program that I'm getting into.

And in response to the "thats the best I can find?" questions. Pretty much, yep. I didn't really bust my ass through college by any means, but ended up with a business marketing and management major. Hoping to stay with the company at least a couple years. I'm just super excited to be making money again, and paychecks over 1k (plus benefits) will be much more than I have ever seen (as someone who's spent my entire time in the workforce in the restaurant industry).

Anyways, I'm very excited, and have been getting increasingly depressed in my current town (as much as I LOVE this town), and desperately need a change of scenery. I'm going somewhere that I literally don't know anyone, but I'm up for the challenge. I'm great at meeting people and have good charisma, but it's been so long since I've needed to make friends, so I'm not really sure how to go about it anymore, haha. Regardless, I'm excited as hell to move on with my life.

Congrats on the job young fella. Like Nook wrote, it's tough times out there right now and one doesn't have to be a Liberal Arts or Philosophy major to be unemployed right out of college. Many with Business degrees are out there doing jobs they didn't expect, right out of college.(Then again, it's a reason I say that if you're going to college right now and you're messing about with your classes and don't get over a 3.0, then you're wasting your time and might as well leave so you don't rack up more stu.loans. My advice to the young ones because you can't afford to play around in school with the economy the way it is).
Good on you for getting the gig, hope it goes well for you like it did for the others on here that worked for Enterprise.
What city will you be working in?
To the other guys that worked for Enterprise and keep mentioning hot girls. What bloody location did y'all work at? I've visited many an Enterprise at various locations and I can't even remember one hot girl I've ever seen working there.

Now that I've been away from them for over a decade, I can honestly say that it is NOT a ripoff at all. Occasionally, I'll rent a car for the weekend and I always at least take the damage waiver (just covers the rent car, no liability).

Yes, your insurance covers rent cars, but if you file a claim, they will treat it as a liability claim (not comp and collision) and your rates will probably go up. It's only $35 for the entire weekend, so I just take it and don't worry about anything.

And when they say you can just hand them the keys and walk out if you get in an accident and have the waiver, they aren't kidding. I saw it happen plenty of times while I was there.

LOL, well in my case this was 15 years ago, so maybe a lot has changed? I worked at the 1960 location, which is no longer there, and at the 290 sales lot. Both places had at least 2 amazing looking women right out of college. Wonder what they're doing now....

    Stop it, ima!

    Good luck on the job!

I find Enterprise easily has the best customer service of all car rental agencies, and usually try to stick with them whenever possible.
