The Saints won a Super Bowl with a makeshift secondary. Also, people forget that we had a horrific pass rush. A legit defensive scheme will relieve pressure off the secondary. Who would have thunk that coaching does matter.
Don't they already have a waiting list for season tickets? I guess you mean the available seats that are normally sold throught the box office will be gone even faster than they normally go...
Nothing you are saying is false. None of it makes up for the fact that Jackson gets beat off the line of scrimmage. You just can't excuse that away with scheme and pass rush. He gets beat and is chasing from the minute the ball hits the QB's hands. His man was almost ALWAYS open last year after 5 yards. Wade and Vance will have to really change his footwork at the snap for him to be a competent player.
You also can't presume that a former rookie, just one year removed from being a legit CB prospect, is not going to improve one bit.
You guys are probably right, I have never been able to afford them so never crossed my mine. I guess single game tickets could if haven't already.
I already said I think he will improve. I am hoping for him to emerge as Jacques Reeves. Also, hold off on the "legit CB prospect" since no scout outside of Houston thought he was "legit."
Maybe it should be like this every year. Still have the draft and OTA's, but save free agency for the very last second. Of course, then you'll have out of shape free agents who don't know the playbook one bit.
incarceratedbob The Nnamdi market is just like i said yesterday Jets & Texans in the lead (Texans offering more money) & 49ers & Seahawks in the bidding
Really? Nobody expected him to get drafted at all as a CB? He was expected to be an undrafted free agent until Houston used (wasted) a first round pick on him? C'mon. Even if he was a second or third round pick, his performance would have been dissapointing, and I'd still expect vast improvement.... but he was likely going in the first round (or early 2nd round) regardless.
Didn't Wade say that he could fix his problems? Sounds like some of it was a coaching problem. I don't think it was a coincidence that everyone sucked last season (Mccain, Quin, etc).. Anyway, not trying to derail the thread. I just haven't lost all hope in Kareem Jackson. He showed flashes of being a good corner.. I have severe blue balls right now. At least, it looks like we can land Joseph..
i don't know how they could go any faster than they already do. Justtxyank....your opinion of jackson is well deserved, he wasnt good. He does have his flaws but he was put in a bad position to begin with. 90% of rookie CBs look horrible. Even Kyle WIlson who was widely considered the best cover corner in that draft was burned repeatedly. Kareem still has a chance to to become a servicable CB
The latest news so far: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=779&line=207417&spln=1 Nnamdi Asomugha: Asomugha sweepstakes looks to be NYJ vs HOU Nnamdi Asomugha - DB - OAK - Jul. 28 - 12:28 pm et According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the 49ers are unlikely to land free agent Nnamdi Asomugha. "I'd be surprised at this point if they got Nnamdi," La Canfora wrote on Twitter. The 49ers cleared $15.7 million worth of cap space with Nate Clements' release, but a report minutes ago suggested they are now pursuit of Johnathan Joseph instead. We're speculating, but the Asomugha sweepstakes looks to be coming down to a two-horse race: It's the Jets against the Texans. Jul. 28 - 12:28 pm et Source: Jason La Canfora on Twitter
Give me a break. He was not projected to be a 1st round pick by anyone outside of the Texans. Some scouts that have talked with 1560 even said 3rd round. He was not "legit"
There are plenty of season tickets available I bought some yesterday through the Texan's rep. If you want to buy season tix don't buy through ticketmaster and go directly through the Texans...it will save you lots of money. The tickets that are avaiable are in the $470 per season ticket (endzones or 5-35 yard line) up to $600 (50 yard line) dollar a season range..which is not bad at all...
Dont know if this has been posted The Houston Texans appear to be the leaders in the clubhouse for the services of free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, multiple sources have told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi. Asomugha, widely considered the top player available in free agency, could land a contract in the range of $12-14 million per season from the Texans, according to Lombardi. That would make Asomugha the NFL's highest paid cornerback, eclipsing the average yearly salary of the four-year, $46 million deal Darrelle Revis signed with the New York Jets last offseason. The NFL free agency cycle is in full effect, with teams and players agreeing to terms fast as training camps open. Get the latest on all the news right here. The Jets are also reportedly involved in serious negotiations with Asomugha. According to Lombardi, the San Francisco 49ers are also believed to be in the mix. The Texans are aided in their pursuit of Asomugha by the fact the state of Texas has no state income tax. It has been believed the Texans would be aggressive in free agency to upgrade the defense under first-year coordinator Wade Phillips. Adding pieces to the secondary, especially cornerback, is considered a major offseason priority for the Texans, who used three draft picks in April's draft on defensive backs. The Texans lost free agent Dunta Robinson a year ago in free agency when he signed a six-year, $57 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons. Asomugha, a four-time All-Pro selection, has spent all eight of his NFL seasons with the Oakland Raiders, where he made roughly $16 million last season before his contract voided, making him a free agent.
