Jason LaCanfora says he'd be surprised if the #Texans land Nnamdi. Good news for @JetsDraft?

The 49ers release of cornerback Nate Clements clears $15.7 million of cap room. That should put them in the Nnamdi hunt

The only reason that I'm optimistic that he isn't just using as as leverage toward the Jets like Weddle/Chargers did is...

    A) I believe we can actually pay him MORE than the Jets (unlike w/ Weddle)
    B) The Jets aren't his former team, like Weddle/Chargers was

Apologies for the confusion - LaCanfora would be surprised if the #NINERS landed Nnamdi.

This is why you get another cover safety to pair with Quin. Bring back Jason Allen or sign another veteran (hopefully for the minimum, maybe even Newman?) and make Jackson compete for that job.

The corner is toughest position to learn outside the QB. Kareem Jackson will be fine. Just watch..

Not necessarily. If we got Nnamdi we could trust him with that side of the field and give KJ more help over the top with safeties etc and hopefully begin to hide his weakness.

that wasn't learning..that was falling down..that was having zero closing speed. yes, every CB has a learning curve...that wasn't merely learning curve you saw last season. they need to upgrade CB2, if kareem is the only option.

    via rotoworld...

The Texans have "moved into the lead" for free agent Nnamdi Asomugha, according to NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.
The Texans must be doing some serious restructuring. Lombardi says that Asomugha's money will be in the $12-$14 million per year range, which is more than the Texans were expected to fork over. Still, this could be a ploy from Asomugha's camp to drive the Jets' offer up. The bidding war is on for the best free agent available.

He will be better, but you can't coach make up speed and he doesn't have it. I'm hoping for him to become Jacques Reeves.

You do realize that we drafted Harris out of Miami? Strong safety would be our next biggest need.

#Texans and Nnamdi still seem likely to join forces - although you can never count out the #Jets.

i sure do. and i'd rather take my chances with him over there than throw it back to kareem.

but i'd far prefer some sort of veteran. this needs to be an all-in year, where coaches and GM's are fighting for their jobs.

Go get a guy like Newman on a 1 year rebuild value type deal. He's not good anymore but he's better than Kareem.
