Why is it over?? McClain just said we are working on Nnamdi and Joseph. Of course we will have to redo contracts. No big deal!
Honestly what's bugging me is that though we're not the greatest destination we definitely seem like the most logical in between the two different spectrum of the other two. The Jets are not going to be able to offer as much as us and the 49ers are just flat out more horrible than us. Now if the Eagles or Bucs were in contention I'd understand more. But I just don't see how we're not getting serious consideration here by him. Especially when he's LITERALLY the missing piece. Just nerve-wracking this time period right now.
Is Nnamdi going to the Jets really a better chance to win? They will be cap strapped and will not have depth. Their pass rush leaves a lot to be desired. I still don't see that team beating the Steelers, many teams in the NFC like the Falcons and Packers... I think there is a higher potential with the Texans, because their offense is already one of the best in the NFL. If there defense was even just average they'd scare a lot of teams. As good as the Jets were on Defense last year that didn't stop the Texans from scoring at will on them.
Well whatever happens, I do hope the Texans stick it to these Jets. I'm sick of seeing the Texans make Mark Sanchez look better than he is.
More reports that the Jets are looking elsewhere, or at least have a backup plan: espn_afcsouth Jaguars showing 'significant' interest n Chris Carr, per a league source. Jets, Ravens in the mix, too.
Yes, unless you are a homer IMO. One team is coming off of back to back AFC title games. The other has never made the postseason. I also don't think our offense is one of the best in the league because we struggle to score sometimes and get off to crap starts. I mean I know the offense is dominant from a stats perspective, but I don't feel like it's dominant as the game is going on. And even if we sign him our defense still may not be average. We are that bad on that side of the ball. I'm hoping he will improve us tremendously and you have to take a shot at an elite corner when our secondary is so weak.
Edit: Forgot they don't play each other this season. Santonio Holmes contract is extremely backloaded. Only 2.45 mil that will count for this season. Probably will be the same with other players when they restructure the contracts to make it work. Jets in definite SB or bust mode.
One factor that's helping me keep hope afloat for Nnamdi is the fact that NY media blows almost anything out of proportion, while the Texans are in a smaller market and are extremely tight lipped to begin with. We can make this huge signing happen, I still believe! Moe
ClaytonESPN John Clayton Looks like the Johnathan Joseph decision is going overtime. Not going to happen tonite. Stay tuned
ClaytonESPN John Clayton The holdup on Joseph is the wait for Nnamdi to set the market price. Everyone is in on all top cbs.
The fact that the Texans have never made the post-season is completely irrelevant. Did you see how fast the Jets turned it around from being a bad team to one of the best? Point is, the Texans have the talent to do just that and if they get Nnamdi and build around that I believe the Texans have higher potential than the Jets. Why? Jets signing Nnamdi still leaves a lot of holes to be filled. The Texans will STILL have all their impact players on BOTH sides of the ball. Andre, Foster, Schaub, Mario, Demeco, Nnamdi... The best teams have impact players on Both sides of the ball. Who on the Jets offense is a impact player?
It's very interesting to me just how tight-lipped the Texans' front office is. I mean, even the better "scoop" reporters in Houston (i.e. Berman) seem to be completely out of the loop with what's going on at Reliant right now.
