The problem is, you kick in $7 million on Myers, now Myers is essentially on a $5 salary the next year (though a bit more complicated due to the option). Myers is a good value at $5 million.

Beltran is about to go to the Giants and Ramus to the Jays, wonder what this does to Pence. Braves need an upgrade badly with McCann out up to a month and Phillies will want to counter strike the Giants move. Rangers wanted Beltran too and Pence would be a home town boy. Things should get really fun now.

You make a point but I'd have to see what eating that much of his deal gets you in return now. Myers has been good has last three starts and overall since June he has been decent. I have to imagine throwing in some money might get you an A ball player with at least a high floor, could he improve enough next season to get you any better...maybe I guess.

The Braves should trade for Bourn. They need a CF. A prime Beltran would have been their perfect fit (But how many teams wouldn't say that).

I'm expecting Pence to the Phillies.

If they turn down a deal for Cosart, Singleton and another prospect for Pence because they are afraid no one would come to their games...they are as stupid as everyone gives them credit for.

This is the best offer the Astros can get. I can't believe they turned it down.

Braves turning attention to Pence per Rosenthal. Also have shown interest in Ludwick.

let's wait to see how it plays out.

i'm actually at about 51% that wade may miraculously be playing it smart and juicing them for all he can.

    from the article:

When we ran that scenario past one Astros official, he refused to discuss any specific player. What he did say was that his team is still willing to listen to just about anything, and that it hasn't said no to any specific proposal.

Look, I want a deal to be made as much as anyone, but there is no reason to rush into one with the Phillies (like the one they apparently offered) if the Braves are about to jump into the mix.

Nothing wrong with waiting it out and seeing who makes the better deal. I like the approach Wade has taken.

Agreed. Teams are just as likely to overpay in the off-season than they are at the trade deadline. In fact, more teams can be in the mix in the off-season (instead of just the contenders at the deadline).

Its not like ANY of our guys are impending free agents. They're all under club control for 3+ more years.

Just a day off, he was told about it yesterday. He has pretty bad numbers against Carpenter.

•It appears that nothing will happen with Pence now and the Astros will look to trade him in the offseason instead, reports Danny Knobler of CBS Sports. Knobler says the Phillies "almost certainly won't get Pence."

    i don't buy it.

No, I meant as far as starting rumors. This time of year, if you sit someone like Pence it can get rumors going in a hurry.
