Whoever had the most leverage to be able to grift off of, of course. Some CNT-related official & his guanxi network is probably making a nice payday out of that.

I think Jeremy Lin considers himself an American and not chinese. Last I checekd he was born here in the US and infact he can barely speak Chinese.

Also Yi isnt all that but he's still way better than Jeremy Lin.

Yao and Jeremy Lin are both anomalies. But take away Yao there is still Yi and some other Chinese guys who can compete internationally, and 4 other who made the NBA. Take away Lin you can't even find a single Chinese-American guy who could compete in Division I basketball, and I'm talking the last 30 years.

There are 4 million Chinese-Americans and at least 3 million had to have been raised here in the States. That's the population of Houston. So what explains the failure of the development of Chinese-American players?

Probably the Tiger-Mothers who make them play the violin instead of letting them run sprints.

That was partly Yao's problem too. For as big as he was, he wasn't great at sealing his man in the post, which led to a lot of balls being tipped away and the inability to simply toss the ball over Yao's shoulder whenever he was being fronted. But yeah, CNT guards suck. Battier was probably the most effective at getting Yao the ball in the post on the Rockets.

I wouldn't consider 8th in the Olympics as sucking compared with how they fared without Yao.
Especially considering he took down Dirk's team head to head to get to that place.
