Holiday? As in Trendon? (Sp?) Big ratings for the Texans as they will broadcast the first death on the field.
Schefter: Baltimore, Tampa, Dallas, Houston all in the mix for Nnamdi. Houston has the biggest need. Holmes deal makes it a little more difficult for Nnamdi-to-Jets but Jets still not out of it. They're going to try and get it done. evansilva Evan Silva adbrandt Andrew Brandt
This post made my morning! Now if we can just get some real help in the secondary. By the way, *is, in my rep.
I don't see how Aso and his large cap number helps the Jets in the long run. Sanchez isn't spectacular, they need to get him more weapons. Seems like a expensive luxury - but a super fun one to watch if you were a Jets fan.
Before free agency started I thought there was a 40% chance we could sign Nnamdi now I am at 15%. Too many better teams, I just hope he signs soon, the longer it drags on, the more it hurts.
They've already resigned Holmes. If Sanchez progresses they are solid on O with a good running game. They will be almost impossible to pass against with Reevis and Aso on the same team. Edit: And if your Aso, of course you want the Jets. He goes there and he is guaranteed to get thrown at. He and Reevis would be the best thing to happen to each other because teams could no longer avoid one or the other. Imagine poor little QBs going to play the Jets where Rex tells his linebacks to pin their ears back. QBs have short time to get the ball in the air with the two best on the ball CBs this decade on the field? Damn.
I'm the opposite. I was at 20% and now I think it's a toss up. If these other teams in the running can figure out a way to make it work cap-wise then The texans should really be able to make it work. The bucs owner has basically said they aren't interested. I don't see how the jets can make a better financial offer than the texans...same goes for Dallas. The ravens have a case, but they still don't seem like they are that much of a threat...just a possibility.
Albert Breer Agents received an email from NFLPA today, clarifying how the $120.375 million cap is a "soft cap". Each club can spend an extra $3 million. That $3 million must be spent on players with five or more years of service, and no more than $1 million can be used on one player.
I started the offseason thinking 25% chance (1 in 4, Jets Cowboys, Ravens as the other three legit options) and am still at 25%.
The fact that McClain has been saying the texans won't sign nnamdi should raise all your percentages up 15-20%.
i'm along those lines. I dont think the jets will/can offer as much as the texans but for once i'm not confident an additional 2-3 million a year will convince a player to sign there. Jets have a lot going for them in terms of recent success, defensive scheme and being in NY (if he really is interested in acting/design). I was very skeptical at first, got a little hope, but the closer it gets the more skeptical i get.
Good point, I pretty much dismissed the whole cap space thing now after seeing what the Jets are potentially doing.
I just never saw Holmes as that great but just an above average receiver. Spending that much money on two players - one in their 30's now..... if both get hurt I will LOL a little.
Nnamdi basically turns the Jets into possibly the most lethal defense ever. Their defense is based highly on the front 7 blitzing nearly every down, and allowing the CB's to hold their own. If you don't have elite CB's, you can get burned early/often by running their defense... but if your CB's are more than competent, you can get away with murder. Basically 7 on 5 every down. AND... if you have two ALL PRO CB's (remember, there are only 2 named to the all pro team)... scary. Absolutely scary. They could have a bunch of BBS members run the offense and still likely win games on defense alone.
