We don't know that he accepted our proposal...or that we even mailed a ring to him. But I agree. I'd feel great about bringing Weddle into the fold. I'm surprised we aren't getting more tweet-leaks about who we are talking to. News has actually been hard to come by, given how much activity is going on.
If we don't get Nnamdi, I hope we find out sooner rather than later. I can't handle this emotional roller coaster ride. Talk to me Schefter...
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/fa If you haven't seen this yet, this is a really helpful link. Depending on how often they get it update, it should help you keep tabs on where people are heading.
And to roundout the tripple post....so we can in fact offer the most? "Cimini covered an appearance by ESPN's Chris Mortensen on ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike Show. "Asomugha is interesting because the Houston Texans, probably, are going to make him the biggest offer," Mortensen told the Mikes. "Yet you keep hearing that Nnamdi wants to go somewhere where he can begin to focus on his post-playing career, even though he'll give his all as he's playing, and he has a great interest in being an actor, whether it's in theater or whatever, and that could factor into it." " http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors I'm not looking for inside info, just some actual cap knowledge
LOL, McClain has been saying all summer long that Butler and Jacoby were as good as gone. Wrong again! Bless his heart...
I love how McClain says the Texans dont have cap room, yet they will make an offer for Nnamdi...so basically, he's saying that the Texans will offer Aso a year deal for 19 million dollars with 6 million guaranteed. Yeah, ok, John. The fact that he says we wont get him really gets me excited.
Doubt it'll take until Friday for Nnamdi. He'll announce where he goes most likely today, or tomorrow, IMO. His deal will set off the domino effect, which is why I think he'll choose today.
Put me on record as hating the fact that Jacoby is back. Bad receiver and over rated as a returner. Way too inconsistent at everything he does on the field.
I tend to agree. A guy like Nnamdi SETS the market...he doesn't wait for it to be set. Plus, teams can't wait around on him given how much money they'll have to commit to him...they can't afford to miss out on others and still not nab him. My guess is we'll know sometime before midnight tonight where he's headed...maybe tomorrow in the morning.
What did you expect from the Texans? Instead of going after Plax, Ocho, or I don't know.....a proven receiver, we had to resign garbage.
Because the Texans have all of their money for FAs tied up into Aso and possibly Weddle (the only two players we have really been linked to). Getting a receiver like Plax would just be gravy if we signed Aso to a big contract. Getting a number two isn't really that big of an issue, considering we almost have one already in Owen Daniels, and our offense is fine. I'm wondering what Dorin Dickerson can do now in his second year anyway. Hopefully he gets some PT.
“@michaelombardi: I keep hearing from well placed relible NFL sources that this Jet talk and Nmandi Asomugha is serious and I mean serious.”
I just hope they do something more to address their return game than let clueless Jacoby continue in that role. He has explosion, but he makes way too many bad decisions back there to let him keep doing it. On the ST note, I really really really hope the Texans go get a punter and get rid of Turk.
What a horrible decision, with a horrible number to boot. Good lord, they're gonna end up offering Sensabaugh 5 million a year.
We probably have Jacoby and Butler under the two different cap exceptions the NFL has. Both are near 3M per year.
