The Pirates just got royally jobbed in the 19th inning to end the game.

Unbelievable. I mean, its not even debatable.

I'm on my phone, can somebody please post the video and/or screen shots while I search for for an oxygen tank?!?!

Its 1 game out of like 180...it isnt really that crucial. This aint football where 1 game will determine an entire season.

If this is the last straw that makes the MLB use instant replay meal will be a hero in my eyes.

Not that I really give a damn (it's baseball), but if you watch the last angle of the replay (1:24 mark) it's actually a lot closer than it looked initially. In fact, it looks like the catcher just barely swiped the runner's leg.

It looked a lot more egregious on the first viewing than on the replays. The ball got there in plenty of time, but it looks like he barely tagged him, if he tagged him at all. The ump is right on top of him and if you look at his face he says "missed". Definitely not the worst call in the history of sports.

If the Braves were trotting out JJ for tomorrow's game I'd say bet your house, your wife, and your kids on the Pirates.

Agreed. If anything, that was a poor swipe attempt at the baserunner. The catcher should've fully tagged him. It was the winning run, how do you not make the tag more obvious?

Replays do seem to show the possibility of a missed tag, it seems his upward motion was smooth without the interruption of Lugo's leg.

The ump didn't have a clear view at the lack of tag it seems. There very well may have not been a tag, but 4 angles in this video don't give any conclusive evidence. Seems like a semi-close call... that the ump decided was going to go the way that was going to get him out of the game as soon as possible.

Not quite as horrendous as the Wally Joyner call. (the ump that broke up the no hitter)

That was a weak tag. Still out, but I can see how the ump blew a call like that.

The ump had the best view of the play. It was close. It's hard to tell with 3 or 4 angles, and one angle looks like there was no tag. That said, Lugo expected to be called out.

Either way, the thread title is an exaggeration (obviously, I would be flipping out more than the OP probably if it were my team).

    Ballsy call by the umpire.
