How quickly people forget. His rookie year was primarily as a defensive replacement in Philly. He also posted a .588 OPS his first year in Houston. People were talking about how terrible the Lidge deal was. Lidge goes on to have a perfect season, and we have a leadoff hitter that can't get on base.
The Phillies aren't baseball people? And you bet there was real concern about Bourn entering 2009. Everybody knew he could field and run, but it was unknown if he could get on base enough.
Brownie: "the cardinals are using a new sod trucked in from colorado." JD: "I always heard you can get good grass in Colorado." i hope that doesn't get him a slap on the wrist. too funny.
We, as fans, have been fortunate to spend the majority of Astros' TV time over the years listening to Deshaies and Dierker as color men.
I think it was actually the right call. I saw a replay later last night where they drew a line and showed that the ball pressed up against the concrete. It looked clearly wrong to me up to that point.
I've seen a number of lousy defensive plays by Corporan in his limited time with the Astros. Small sample size but what's his rep? I know he works with Lyles but I've seen nothing ML caliber out of him as of yet. The ball took a big hop but still should've stopped it. Norris getting screwed.
Agreed. We've been really lucky to hang on to JD. He has had chances to be a color man on a national scale and he has turned them down. He just likes being with one team and being able to live in the Houston area.
