Thanks... hopefully it's just standard posturing by Wade and he lowers his demands to get a deal done over the next few days.
man it's crazy how slow pujols is. and mindblowing that he's lead his team in steals in multiple seasons.
True... they are a relatively slow team as a whole and I'm guessing LaRussa is very conservative in that regard. They hadn't stolen a base in I think 38 games before a couple of days ago. Pujols is generally a poor baserunner, even beyond his lack of speed. That's the impression I've always gotten. Don't know what the stats say.
38 games? wow. and jd confirms your impression about his baserunning. jason michaels is the spitting image (although about 50 lbs slimmer) of gavin smith, for anybody who has followed pro poker over the years.
I read that we were 36 games under .500 for the first time since '63. About to be 37... Bourn ain't going down easy though.
Usually watch game on mute so didn't hear that. I've seen him make his share of blunders on the basebaths. Never heard of Gavin Smith but good call:
WHOA!!!! Carlos "El Caballo" Lee with a Grand Salami yesterday and a double-play started today?!?!? What's next, a cycle? GO ASTROS! That should have been a good omen to snap this skid.
I have a feeling Myers stayed out there for a reason...cough cough. That is now three straight good performances, great timing. So you pinch hit Altuve with Downs who is in a, now 0-16, slump?
It makes no baseball sense to worry about a "face of the franchise" when you're this bad but I totally understand the business side of things. Selling tickets is the end game. Having said that, Bourn should be the face if you have to have one. Kids like hitters with some pop or ace pitchers but Bourn, to me, is the most enjoyable player to watch on this team. Altuve is already in 2nd, tied with Lyles.
Jajajajaja... No, but if given the chance, I'd join them. Meh, I'm not all that happy with Carlos' play this season... but I bet he's trying to make a renegotiation case...
Eh - I don't think anyone comes to the ballpark for Hunter Pence or Michael Bourn or anyone else on this team. They aren't like Clemens or Oswalt or Bagwell or Biggio. The people who come to the ballpark are pure Astros fans, and they'll be just as happy to watch new young faces.
Nah, he isn't looking to renegotiate. An inside source told me that a few months ago, a rich, local businessman offered El Caballo a lifetime supply of hay for his real caballos if he would just stop sucking so much.
Early on, there was a SERIOUS question if the guy could constantly hit the ball to be an everyday player.
Disagree totally. The vast majority of people who come to the ballpark are casual fans at best, corporate fans at worst, there to have a good time/family outing/business meeting, and most of them only go googly for the Goya can shuffle and Sheriff Blaylock's Aramark swill. If there were enough people in MMP, they'd go ape**** for the wave, too. The baseball on the field is a distant 5th, entertainment-wise. Been that way for a while.
