How was that in any way a home run? In every angle it clearly hits the top of the wall and bounces back. I am anger
Does anybody know what numbers Myers has to put up for his 2013 option to be guaranteed? There's a clause in his contract for 2013 based on performance in 2012. We're already locked into about $12 mil for next season.
You just hope he turns it around enough that we can move him around this time next year for something more than a bag of balls. We probably don't want him to pitch quite well enough for his 2013 option to kick in but just below those metrics so other teams are more willing to take him off our hands.
I know the 3rd year is a club option with a 3 million dollar buyout, don't recall if they're any incentives with that.
Yea, I saw the $3 mil club buyout but also saw that the option is guaranteed if he meets performance requirements in 2012. I'm looking at Cot's Contracts which is reliable but unofficial: http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/houston-astros.html
Mikey Bourn is an oppo field hitting machine. He is easily our best baseball player. Does it all other than slug, which you don't typically expect from a leadoff type anyway. Could stand to turn some of those SOs into BBs but for a guy that was once considered a defensive replacement, he's really blossomed.
I can see Berkman headed to the DL. Looks like he messed that shoulder up pretty good. Great news for the Astros! We're back in the mix!
Not saying we are getting a top prospect for Brett, but Myers has been pretty effective for 3 straight starts. We should at least be able to dump most of his salary and pick up a low A prospect. Sucks if Lance goes on the DL, how did he hurt his RC?
On Berkman: last AB in last game against Pitt... singled but reached for an outside pitch and did something to his right shoulder. Didn't look good in his 2 ABs tonight before leaving the game. On Myers: When do you see us dumping him? And unless he turns it around a lot, I see us having to pick up most of his salary to move him at all, regardless of when we move him.
Myers has value, the guy can start, relieve and, as odd as it may sound, is a good clubhouse guy. I can see someone taking a chance as an innings eater if the Stros eat some salary, including all of his remaining salary this season. Since June his ERA is under 4, depending on what happens the rest of the way tonight. On his contract, his incentives don't vest the option just his 1.5 million dollar bonus but the buyout supersedes it.
Bourn takes an outside pitch to the oppo field in one AB, then takes an inside pitch up the middle. Just quality hitting.
Good news about the buyout. So you think they are going to move him before this deadline? I haven't been following the rumors but is there any talk of it? Not much time left...
I think so, as of right now, Myers and Wandy are gone but at a price. Rumors basically are that, Pence and Bourn probably stay for now. That said, the deadline shouldn't really matter in Myers case since he will pass through waivers in August or some team will do the Stros a huge favor.
That's right... forgot about how that works. Pence staying? Why? What kind of interest is there in born? It would be disappointing if we don't move at least one of them.
On Pence, Wade is looking for a 3/4 for 1 package of good prospects and so far hasn't found what he is looking for, most believe he won't. There is also been talk of him being the face of the franchise so they want him around. Bourn just hasn't been mentioned much in trade gossip but out of the two, he probably is being shopped more actively...just a guess though from what i've read.
