    I would go with this:

    PG: Calvin Murphy/Sleepy Floyd
    SG: Kevin Martin
    SF: Marcus Morris
    PF: Patrick Patterson
    C: Hakeem Olajuwon

Both Calvin and Sleepy were undeniably the best PG's we've had in franchise history and should have no problem getting the ball to Dream. Sure there may be better choices like Malone, Drexler, Thorpe, or Maxwell, but this team can put up points in a hurry while keeping the interior on lockdown. Can you imagine trying to drive in against Hakeem with 2Pat waiting to help on the weak side?

    In their primes?

Hakeem fo sho. The second one would be a toss up between Drexler, Calvin, and Barkley.

If we can have a third, I'd go with Quitten so we can put him in a bus alone, trick him into thinking he's being escorted to a game all by himself (vip treatment) and then drive that bus off a cliff.

I am a big Moses Malone fan. The MAN would make Shaq in Shaq's prime look like a school girl playing with paper dolls. He was one of the reasons the old school players played with mouth gaurds; and wings and points DID NOT GO IN THE PAINT. As a small child I was scared of him; when interviewed I could not understand what was said by him just added to my intimidation. If we were putting together an all-star streetball team he starts every time. His game does not translate into todays NBA, IMO. He was the best in his day.

Malone had some PR goofs for sure. He was definitely not one that enjoyed the media lime light. His personality and character was simply too rough for it. I agree though, his game probably would not translate well to today's NBA as it is a game geared towards guards and wings. His game was crash the boards and put the ball back in. No one could out rebound him on the offensive side of the court. Man was a beast! Hakeem is someone who's game WOULD translate well to the NBA. His post moves in an NBA era full of stiff bigs? It would be like a fat kid winning a lifetime pass to CiCi's.

shouldn't their prime years have been on the rockets? I'm not comfortable pulling players in their prime that were on the rocks in their decline. granted. all hypothetical anyway. i guess it's just the rocket's fan in me.

I can understand what you are saying. The reason why they would be in their prime is becaucse i wanted to reflect on the general history of Rockets Players. I think the answers would be too limited or too predictable if the players had to be in their prime, or they had to have a certain tenure w/ the Rockets.

He is one of the consummate role players in NBA history. Some people may argue he's not a 'true Rocket', but that wasn't the intent of the OP.

With him and Dream blocking shots, this would go from a ~#20 to ~#1 defense in the league without a doubt. Plus Thabeet would be forced to learn tons of things, even if it was just from watching.

    Dream and Clyde

    Dream and Moses

    Dream and Sampson

    Dream and Elvin

    Dream and Calvin

In their prime any one of these duos would make us a contender and possibly a champion.

Oh that would be fun to see!

What you guys think about Dream and Artest.

Ron Ron was i pretty deadly player in his prime. He could score and defend. He would also be like Kmarts bodyguard on the court, making his job alot easier.

    Hakeem & Francis or
    Hakeem & McGrady

Hakeem (self explanatory)and Francis - gives us a SG/PG scoring threat that could set Dream up with sick oops.

T-Mac would be deadly with his scoring and passing. Pick your poison! It would be like what we expected with a healthy Yao and Tracy :(

This would leave a ridiculously balanced roster and deep team! We'd have the same efficient offense as last year (if they kept Adleman's offense in tact with McHale's coaching).

Our defensive woes would be immediately solved with Dream alone. We should clone the aforementioned players now to have them ready for the season after the lockout.

    Lineup

    PG Lowry/Dragic
    SG Francis/Martin/Lee
    SF Morris/Budinger/Williams
    PF Scola/Patterson/Hayes
    C Olajuwon/Thabeet/Motiejunas

    or

    PG Lowry/Dragic
    SG Martin/Lee/Williams
    SF McGrady/Morris/Budinger
    PF Scola/Patterson/Hayes
    C Olajuwon/Thabeet/Motiejunas

Dream and Moses are the best, but I'm not sure if they could play together well enough.

    Incorrect like 1+1=0

Drexler in his prime = 2 NBA Finals appearances. (he was best player on his team and LED HIS TEAM to the FINALS)

Drexeler had other 20 point scorers around him...

Anyway, the Rockets lack an interior presence and a playmaker.

Tracy McGrady and Hakeem fit it perfectly.

You could put Drexeler in too which would make our rebounding ridiculous.
