Time for Schaub to step up.

I haven't either. No way we could get Weddle and Nnamdi ... but I'd be ecstatic with either one.

So it is more of the "I think" vs "What I'm hearing"

Who else can realistically step up other than schaub? AJ?

Mario Williams and Antonio Smith. And yes, Schaub and Johnson (who I'm SURE is willing to restructure, given the fact that he's been #1 in the recruiting process).

Yeah I forgot about Smith. I think Mario would, I hope Antonio is willing.

Think Demeco and Antonio Smith could but will any of them, I don't know.

I need to get back to work, but I just can't. Please let him make his decision today so I can finally celebrate or vomit.

Antonio Smith and Mario are both prime candidates in my mind. Mario can be resigned to an extension that could severely lower his cap number this year. Smith should be restructured or cut in my opinion. Not good enough to justify his $6 million cap number.

I know, just me hoping to hear something by today. If it really is down to the Jets or Texans, he could drag this suspense all the way out til Sunday if he wanted to.

Kevin Walter is also a bit overpaid.

The jets have to resign Sonny holmes and edwards, right ? What would Sanchez look like with no receivers? I know that D wins championships, but they're just getting greedy with going after the other best cornerback .

Best thing for the jets is to resign cromartie and their receivers and get another running back.
Maybe the Texans can help them out by trading slaton to them for a 5th rounder,
as long as they leave Awesomegha alone. They get a good running back in slaton along with some excellent special teams play.

Love to hear the aggressiveness on the Texans part for a change. If they could get either Aso or Weddle, it would make a huge difference to our secondary. I'd prefer to over-pay Aso, which it looks like they're willing to do. It will probably come down to what he wants: more $ from a 6-10 team in Houston vs. playoff team in NY. If so, for once, I hope it's all about the money!

Me neither. He held out for that deal....why would he concede it to let Asomugha get paid equal or more?

He's not worth $6M....but Smith has been solid as a run stopping end, and will be an even better fit as a 3-4 end. He's one of the very few leaders in that group as well. Would be nice if he restructures.

And Mario's production the last two years hasn't met his salary level either. Couple that with his struggles with nagging injuries and transition to a new position....I don't know how quick I'd be to give him an extended deal, even if it does help us some this summer.

Will be interesting to see if the Texans carve out all of the dead wood on the roster. A play for Weddle would thrill me.
