Houston has bad sports reporters despite what The Cat may say. No real insights and get played like a drum by the local teams.

I can't believe McClain is harping on the cap room.

I actually hate him more (as part of the original "Texans") than David Carr, Casserly, Capers, and Boseli.

Hell, Carr, Casserly, and Capers have all found other jobs (with Casserly and Capers doing quite well) since leaving. If McLain was fired, he would never ever ever get picked up by another newspaper.

@mortreport RT @TheSaltman33: @mortreport so signing 1 corner makes a team a superbowl contender? > They have talent; lWade Phillips as DC & the offense

I'm struggling to keep mine down. Have to keep reminding myself what team I root for.

Chris Mortenson is either going to make or break his credibility for good with me regarding Nnamdi. He's been adamant about it yet ignores that we seemingly would be hard pressed to make him a legit offer under the cap.

Either he knows something or is blowing hot air. I'm betting on the latter.

I wonder whose deals they could or who would be willing to restructure?

Nnamdi and Revis in the same secondary would be more unfair that Lebron, Wade, and Bosh teaming up.

I don't see how the Jets would be willing to spend that much money on 2 corners though.

What's sad is that he was actually a great writer back in the pre-internet days of reading the Sunday paper at the kitchen table. Always looked forward to his columns. Well-written and very informative. Great interviews with all the Oilers, etc.

Once he started going on the radio, it's like he just got lazy or something. Started believing his own hype and thinking he was bigger than the guys he wrote about.

I think he should just retire. He's just not cut out for today's version of sports journalism.

McClain doesn't get "played" - he is more than happy to coast through his job and get paid by the Chron to compile the text messages and emails from Texans PR and print them on his blog.

Justice plays more of a game and a dance but basically does the same. Feigen's also a mouthpiece, but unlike the rest, is willing and able to get actual information that's interesting to hear.

They all have to play some type of establishment game. They justify their existence by having inside connections. They keep those connections by not pissing off their connections. Feigen at least keeps some semblance of balance between that and his obligations to report to the fans. McClain's semi-retired self got rid of all journalistic integrity 15 years ago.

Would Nnamdi really be willing to take THAT much less to play for the Jets? With the money they already have tied up in Revis, that would have to be a substantial pay cut would it not?? And I've gotta think that the Texans are an up-and-coming team that Nnamdi might want to be a part of.....Andre, get on the phone ASAP and call up your buddy!

re: "today's version of sports journalism", are you saying McClain isn't cut out for regurgitating things everyone already knows, spouting off barely informed opinions that change hour-by-hour, and interlacing all that with pre-pubescent one-liners? Because, that's a what sports journalism has become.

    a drivel-fest.

That's what ESPN has become, but outside of ESPN sports journalists are expected to actually bring legit info, analysis, etc. Today's sports fans are more knowledgeable than the fans of the past because of the internet. Nobody wants to listen to reporters who can barely touch the surface of a story and are unable to provide in depth information.

Are you Bob McNair's son? You seem to be really against the idea of signing Aso and really in favor of bargain moves and buddy moves.
