You really think losing your 3rd best WR, Pro-Bowl FB and backup LT won't hurt this team? you lose them you lose special teams and real depth. Oh and about replacing them with average talent, I have two words for you: Kareem Jackson.
Huh? So Kareem Jackson is average talent? What he showed during his first year was among the bottom 5% in the NFL amongst starters. Also, since when is a back up tackle and a 3rd WR not average? You make it seem like we are ****ed without below average talent on this roster. You realize there are many FAs available that can take over those roles just as effectively, right? Yeah, if we lose them and dont sign any players to replace them, we lose depth. But that wont be the case at all. Sure, itll hurt to lose Leach, but at the end of the day, he's a FB, which is the least important position on offense...he also barely played in half the snaps. Losing him sucks, but the offense will continue to excel without him.
I am not ready to give up on Kareem for several reasons: 1. It is not his fault he was not ready. The COACHES DID NOT PUT HIM IN A POSITION TO BE SUCCESSFUL. They put him in a position to fail. 2. Judging by Wade's comments. . I am beginning to think he was not taught any technique. I don't care if he is a professional . . coaches should be teaching technique. 3. He is young. Amobi got his . .i dunno how many years. . i think Kareem deserves at least two. IF you going to say Frank Bush and Gibbs were the problems. . then please raise up off Kareem a little. Too Often . . . on defense .. . it is easy to curse the guy closest to the receiver but sometimes. . . it isn't his fault. Too often it seemed the whole secondary were looking at each other as if to say . . .i thought you had him . . . Rocket River
I like the receivers we're picking up. I think Tolliver could be a big deal. Jacoby is definitely out, as is, unfortunately, Leach. That says to me that we are going to be throwing some money around in the coming days. Do it, Bob, and you come out of my Sig. Also, don't sleep on Dorin Dickerson.
I hope the NOT SIGNING of Vonte . . . is not similar to the NOT SIGNING of Donte it didn't seem like a BIG LOSS at the time. . . but . . . Rocket River

Is it just that simple as cutting? He hasn't seen the field in 3 seasons since AJ went down with a knee injury. At his contract he should've been cut at least by last year if it was that simple. I thought most run plays were out of the Offset I formation. Where could I find how many snaps a player plays?
I'm not super worried about it, at the very least, this saves us some money to spend on the secondary.
Exactly. Our offense is a proven commodity with multiple points of attack. That's something our defense has never been (even with Dunta).
Lance Z says they'll likely sign Sensabaugh(overpay him compared to what he's actually worth) and go from there. Sensabaugh knows Wade, Wade knows Sensabaugh, blah, blah, blah. See what or how much money is left and see if they can sign a CB.(a Richard Marshall, Ike Taylor, Carlos Rogers --also says wouldnt shock him to see Rogers end up a Texan). I guess tifwiw
While I wouldn't mind that (it falls in line with what McNair has been saying), it's the same 'ole "Aww Shucks" Texans. Go big, or go home.
What would be acceptable to you? Sensabaugh is a done deal, and ive made my peace with that since Weddle was never realistic. But what is wrong with Carlos Rogers? He is more than adequate. Jonathan Joseph and Ike Taylor are better, but not by leaps and bounds, and Nnamdi is a pipe dream floated by ESPN writers who can't do anything more than connect dots between "BAD PASS DEFENSE" and "SHUTDOWN CORNERBACK", without so much as even a cursory glance at our lack of cap room.
If overpaying for Sensabaugh (anything over 3M honestly) is gonna hamstring the team from tipping the scales for a better CB or even giving Vonta his due then it'll be an even more magnified waste. Carlos Rogers was a piece of a secondary whose ineptitude rivaled our own. Adding a piece from the league's 31st worst pass defense (minus Laron Landry) is an upgrade in the most minuscule definition of the word.
Like I said, classic Texans. "We made an effort to sign the best players, getting quality and value."
LZ: Rick Smith tells me that the Texans agreed to deals with 18 undrafted free agents last night who will sign today.
Some of you are putting way too much stock into all these rumors. Most of these "experts" and "insiders" don't have any more knowledge than any of us. Where are they coming up with Houston being the #1 contender for Aso, etc.? None of them are talking to Aso or his agent. Most are just noticing that CB is our biggest need (duh!) and that Aso is the best CB on the market. I honestly don't think anyone knows any more than that. And let's wait until free agency actually starts before we start condemning the Texans for not getting it right. LOL. You can't assume anything based on a few cliched comments from McNair.
