This is a show Penn & Teller have right now in the UK. It is a contest where magicians try to perform a trick that Penn and Teller can't figure out. The prize for successfully fooling Penn and Teller is the opportunity to open for them in their Las Vegas show. I'm not sure why this isn't being shown in the US, it is much better than the talent shows currently airing. The first two videos are both labeled as episode 1 but they are different. It started as a one show special but then got picked up for a full season. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yfihMF-v0oE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k3wAqpo9rFA&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/k3wAqpo9rFA&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_SUPQE1OSdM&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_SUPQE1OSdM&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OYtTt1e7wms&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OYtTt1e7wms&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/u2l-pD5DTe0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/u2l-pD5DTe0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iA9xdQ8e2zY&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iA9xdQ8e2zY&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>
Saw the entire 2010 episode from a YouTube rip on a bus ride... and I was mildly amused that the simplest of tricks FOOLed them. The "magician" answered technically about what fooled them... and they agreed. This is a good show.
Only saw a bit of the first video. So they don't actually explain how the magicians did the trick when they aren't fooled?
No, that's their livelihood. But in the youtube comments some people figure it out. It's a great show. Teller is a genius and Penn is a master showman.
I'm watching the first video, they do explain it somewhat though not completely, not in great detail.
Silence is golden. Also, he speaks to Penn only, to us, he doesn't say much, but through Penn we know he's the bomb.
Only a matter of time before it comes stateside, if the ratings in UK are good. We always copy British reality TV.
It should only come stateside if Penn and Teller are doing it. To me it's not just the tricks themselves, but all the history and cryptic speak that Penn and Teller do that really makes the show cool. Even though you know it's all tricks somewhere, the way they go into the history and lore when letting the magician know that they figured it out still makes it seem mystical.
Is it much different than... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breaking_the_Magician's_Code:_Magic's_Biggest_Secrets_Finally_Revealed with newer tricks? One of my favorite things about Vegas is visiting the Magic shops.
