    http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/25394/on-sensabaugh-as-a-texans-solution

Sensabaugh seems far from that "interchangeable safety" model that we've heard associated with Wade. If we don't get Nnamdi, I really hope they go hard after Weddle, Landry, or Mikell.

Jerome Solomon brought up Danieal Manning on the radio this morning also, citing his kick return abilities as a bonus. There are too many good options to settle for Sensabaugh right off the bat. I'm going to be pretty bummed if all we end up with is him and a mediocre corner.

I didn't realize he's a box safety. Do not want.

Were totally going to overpay for him. Just add a couple million more per year and get Weddle. This is going to suck.

Agreed. Why is it that each team needs exactly 2 weeks before their first preseason game? I mean, everybody is going to have the the same amount of practice going into that first preseason game, but it's all going to get unbalanced for every game after that. So why is that first game so important? Why don't we place more importance on the first regular season game and start camps in relation to that date? I honestly don't know how much it really matters, but it seems like we're getting robbed of 4 days of practice and with us installing a new defense and having guys change position, I'd rather us be able to use all the practice time we could get.

I think Wade will have a bit more say about the starters then Kubiak. Though, I was thinking more that Jackson would eventually commit on-field suicide after being targeted 96 times and burned 88 in 3 games.

Alright Texans, truth time. Prove me wrong. Show me you aren't going to completely ignore 3-4 extremely good cover safeties on the market for Wade's "Twin Free Safety" secondary because you decided on SS Sensabaugh for buddy network reasons. Show me that the Asomugha chatter wasn't just a PR smokescreen and that you'll make a honest, aggressive push for his services.

I'm sick of you proving me right.

If Wade can make him look good, do want.

He's better than what we have currently, at least.

No doubt he's better than what we have...but it's going to come at a steep price. That's my concern. If we pay him 4 million a year, Id have big issues with that, specially when a player like Weddle could be had for a little bit more.

That's for your own veterans, right? If so, give all of it to Vonta Leach. Maintaining the good parts of your identity are as important in football as upgrading weaknesses. For 7 years, the Texans' identity was that they were soft. Last year, that didn't change, but it got a caveat. The Texans proved that they would run the ball down your throat. Vonta Leach was as much a part of that as Arian Foster and Eric Winston.

Something tells me that the ZBS and Kubiak's belief in it will end up sending Leach elsewhere.

I don't really know how the exception will work. In theory though they could basically offset Antonio Smith's contract entirely by borrowing $3 million from a future year and then using the exception.

I tend to agree with this.. you already know Kubiak feels he can just plug in any RB and make him a star.. you gotta think he would feel FB is even more expendable

Also I got stuck listening to Mighty Gwinn show (as much as I hate him) and hes been ranting all day that about 50% of Foster's runs were without Leach on the field.. Not sure how accurate that was but if anyone has an exact stat on that I'd appreciate it

Have to think that Andre might renegotiate his deal to help get Aso right?

it would be nice, but i don't see how he could after he just renegotiated his deal before the season started.

I believe in the ZBS, too. I believe in the best downfield blocker not named Hines Ward even more, though.

Maybe not 50%, but a fair chunk of them. Anytime we run a two TE set (one of Kubiak's favorites), and sometimes during 3 WR sets, Leach comes off the field.

Where he really helps is goalline and short yardage. I'd hate to see us go back to 2007/2008 red zone efficiency if we lost him.

Psst... Leach was our starting fullback the years we sucked so bad in the redzone.

Our rushing game since we got Leach:

    2007: 22nd
    2008: 13th
    2009: 30th
    2010: 7th

You don't want to mess up a good thing, but I think Leach won't be back.

    And it begins...

Rashad Butler (as told on nuno and raheel show) will not be a Texan and hopes to sign with the Redskins this season

    http://twitter.com/#!/The_Raheel/status/95533694051299330

Add backup tackle to the list of needs...

EDIT: Butler is restricted, so we'll see what happens. We placed a 3rd round tender on him, so it'll take what I'm guessing is about $1.5 mil and a third rounder for someone to get him.
