As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. If it is not about this series it goes somewhere else. 7-25 J.A. Happ, LHP (4-11, 5.88) vs. Kyle McClellan, RHP (6-6, 4.34) 7:15 on FSH 7-26 Brett Myers, RHP (3-10, 4.74) vs. Jake Westbrook, RHP (8-4, 5.04) 7:15 on FSH 7-27 Bud Norris, RHP (5-7, 3.70) vs. Chris Carpenter, RHP (6-7, 3.73) 7:15 on FSH 7-28 Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (6-7, 3.60) vs. Jaime Garcia, LHP (10-4, 3.01) 7:15 on FSH
He'll probably get 2 off of Myers alone. Happ will end up walking him 3 times, even though he is trying to throw him strikes. I'll say he ends up with at least 3 HRs.
'nother day, 'nother Astros loss. Berkman, the newest Astro-killer, cancels out Norris. LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Not tonight, Puma is out with a rotator cuff strain. Apparently not serious so he should be back sometime this series.
Why do they disclose that a person is left handed, and why are some names highlighted (Pitchers, Bourn, Wallace)? And Corporan is Blue (presumably because he is a switch hitter)
Good god, is he in little league or the bigs.... “@zacharylevine: Sounds like Brett Wallace's playing time is going down for a while. Mills will try to get him going w/favorable matchups.”
No kidding. I understand wanting to put him in positions to be successful so you don't wreck his confidence, but geez, the guy is about to be 25 and we still really don't know what we have in him. Obviously the Brett Wallace situation is on a smaller scale, but this reminds me a little of how the Yankees handled Joba Chamberlain. They kept changing his role and limiting how much he pitched to the point that he never got a legitimate shot to show what he had. I don't think Joba would have been an ace or a top-five closer or anything, but the Yanks really didn't help him at all in his development.
Wallace is struggling but jeebus, let the kid play. Altuve really struck me as a tired player that would need a day off yesterday, too. I can't figure Mills out at all; so ready for new blood, ownership to front office to clubhouse.
I'd like to assume Mills, being in the clubhouse with these guys, has the inside track. And knows when they are ready to play, and not. Ive been overly hard on Mills lately, so im going to give him the benefit of the doubt, for now. But.... Benching is a stop gap short term solution at best. Whether now, or later, Wallace is going to have to work through this in the batters box, not in the dugout.
