We're 6 million under the cap. Unless they know something we don't about players getting cut, they're full of crap.
Report after report has the texans as being players in the Nnamdi sweepstakes. There has to be something we are missing with our salary cap situation.
Even if we're 6 million under the cap, we can technically offer him that 6 million, the 3 million "exception" from next year, and I'm pretty sure I read about another 2 million "exception" from the year after that. So, that's 11 million right there. Say we cut two players that frees up another 4 million. That's fifteen. So, there's fifteen million bucks we can offer him as a base rate up front, not including easily reachable incentives we could give him. This number will increase if we are off by any amount. Edit: It looks like Andre Davis was due another 4 million next year. Is that figured in?
I think we need to see if the Texans come out of the lockout with a wave of cap-related cuts. We're going to see in short order what they are going to do. You almost have to pencil in Sensabaugh at $4M first. There's a good possibility the Oakland experience will have him desperate to go to a contender (with cash). And yes, that could bite us as well.

Did King say which team he thinks will land Asomugha? When he was on Total Access last week he said it would be a big mistake if the Texans didn't go after Nnamdi.
I wonder why that is the case. They definitely need some help on offense like a RB who is not hurt ever other week, second WR and more consistent linemen. Though, they have drafted well to have a very young but upcoming front 7. They are very young that looks to be turning the corner and who will make the playoffs within 2 years. They do have a much more difficult schedule this year facing the NFC North rather than the NFC West, but AFC South and AFC North are a wash. It is a tough division, but time has shown that turnover is more the norm than the exception in the NFL particularly that division in the past. I don't trust the Saints sticking as true contenders.
He guessed that the Texans, Cowboys and Eagles were the most likely spots, but noted that Asomugha had real interest in the Jets as well.
I don't see how the jets or the cowboys could afford him. But it's scary to think if Erebus on one side and aso in the other.
It's kinda the same pitch in a sense that the Knicks tried to use on Lebron. "If you come here and turn this franchise around, you'll be a savior" I think Nnamdi might want that more than Lebron did

So the leading suitors are Houston/Tampa Bay. If he goes to Tampa I will rage. If he went to Baltimiore 0.ooooooooooooooooooo There defense would be to legit.
With the hesitancy to drop the hammer on guys mid season, I think Kubiak would leave him in the whole season. He kept Bush week after week of league's worst defense, he kept Slaton at KR when we never started a drive past the 25 yard line. I don't know if Peter King is making it sound like Nnamdi rejects TB or the other way around, but I don't think Nnamdi would be too attracted to play there. The Tampa 2 would just have him sitting down in the flats instead of playing in coverage. TB has money to throw, but they would have to adjust gameplans and rosters if they were to play to Nnamdi's strengths. But I'd like to see a Nnamdi - Roddy White battle twice a year.
I was listening to sports talk radio today...we apparently have the money or ability to go after him. Every sports article has Houston as a suitor as well...there obviously has to be a reason for that. If the skins can be players every offseason, then so can every other team. It's about being creative.
McClain kept saying we didn't have the space if the Cap was 120 even if we cut Okoye and Slaton but, like you, I keep hearing the Texans as one of his, if not top, suitor. I remember Lance Z on 1560 mentioning that some owners may just make the third year of contracts the BIG payoff since a new TV deal would increase the cap dramatically in 2013. Texans could cut some dead weight, restructure contracts like those of AJ, Schaub and Ryans and make that third year where they make up for the first 2 years.
