You can't deny that she was extremely talented, her style was copied by scores of singers. Unlike Kurt Cobain who was able to still make important music inebriated, Amy was a sloppy drunk. But when she was sober she was the ****.
I saw her at the MTV European Music awards in Munich in 2007. I was right above the stage. She clearly seemed to be under the influence of some kind of drugs back then. Her award was handed to her by Bono (if I remember correctly), he said some nice things...she kind of stumbled on the stage to take her award, just said "thanks" and barely made it off the stage without falling. Very sad.
I love Amy Winehouse and her music. It just frustrates me to no end to see such a talented person be so lost. I meant it when I wished that now, maybe she can find some peace.
I don't know why people feel compelled to throw their little Dixie cup of gasoline on somebody else's bonfire. Yesterday she had a chance to start again, today there is no chance. That is sad to me, maybe a tougher guy than I can say that is just deserts for her lifestyle, but I am not that tough.
Nobody's asking you to give a eulogy here - just don't dance on the grave with such glee. Your lack of "respect" says way more about you than it does about Amy Winehouse.
I guess the lesson here is you can't abuse them if you're too skinny, either. It's a shame, partly because she's talented and because I imagine drugs can be really fun and mind-opening if you use them correctly. Like Earnhardt with the driving.
This, she didn't do anything to earn it. Talented but totally effed up person abusin all kinds of drugs and not bein able to get her life together.
so you are on this thread to mention how lesser of person Winehouse is compared to you? Nobody here is preaching that drug abuse is a good thing. She had major drug problems doesn't mean she's Osama bin laden.
I saw the news report and immediately imagined a clutchfans thread like this one. Both sides arguing over the respect or lack of respect the others are showing. Hell, she was talented, but you'll probably have a hating group of grave dancers when you seem to flash around like you are celebrating your drug addiction.
Dead celebrity thread on ClutchfansBBS: 1. News of celebrity death, usually not yet confirmed. 2. RIP posts, usually containing a short appreciation of celebrity's qualities. 3. Joke posts, usually involving puns related to the celebrity's lifestyle/peformance 4. First person who disrespects the dead celebrity, usually by claiming moral superiority to the deceased. 5. People who disagree with the morally-superior poster. 6. People who also want to assert their moral superiority to the dead celebrity and who agree with the original poster to do so. 7. Generalized debate between those who are morally superior to the dead celebrity and those who disagree with those who post disrespectful comments in a dead celebrity thread. 8. A very sexy man who summarizes all the content of every dead celebrity thread that has ever appeared on ClutchfansBBS.
She actually contributed something beautiful to society (her music). She has a Grammy. What have you ever done?
I couldn't get past the first page of the thread about the kid who killed his parents and threw a party. This is tame by comparison.
Yeah I was just reading an article and she's in some pretty heavy company who also died at that age. According to said article: Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin (I'm too young to know who she was) Jim Morrison Kurt Cobain I wonder if her music will stand the test of time. Honestly I don't listen to her music, I haven't kept up to date much with recent music.
