Gina Carano folks!! Just look at the cast. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KFV0Uvzpz0o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I like the cast & director but that looks chessy as hell, replace Carano with Steven Segal and you got any of his movies from the 90s.....
The cast is freaking unbelievable, that's what makes the story so disappointing. What the hell happened to Ewan McGregor, did American studios just give up on him after The Island bombed? I'll probably download some of the fight scenes for personal use a year or two from now, but I'm not gonna sift through the whole crappy plot. Go check out some young Cynthia Rothrock when she was doing HK stuff, or Kim Maree Penn rather than this.
This **** better go straight to video... Or at least Cinemax, this looks like one of those b action movies you stumble upon late night while channel surfing...
I'm going to play devil's advocate here. Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, and Bill Paxton haven't starred in a worthwhile movie in the last decade. Channing Tatum, the "Step Up" guy? I guess Fassbender is a rising actor but the highlight of his career so far has been X-Men: First Class which was very meh to me. Ewan McGregor is solid but he's far from A-list. Gina Carano..really no acting experience. Soderberghs has a lot of mediocre movies on his directing resume. I'm probably overthinking it, it may be a solid popcorn action flick.
The likely story behind Douglas' casting is probably most obvious and the most depressing: guy probably can't get insured for anything. Soderbergh is usually able to put together some decent dialogue. I don't know how you do that with this early nineties Wesley Snipes screen play. To the extent that movies have become what pre-reality broadcast TV was, demographics and simple, easy to resolve plots, this could certainly make its money back if it's marketed and scheduled correctly. Either way, Carano can pay her rent without getting owned by Cris Cyborg, Sarah Kaufman or any of the young guns out there.

i really dont like the movies where chicks beat up a ton of dudes. I mean they can hardly make a sandwich.
I've heard good things about it and it's got a very early 100% on rottentomatoes... apparently the action is pretty brutal.
It's funny, I've been reading more movie threads lately and it seems that the one consistent is you complaining about said film, calling it overrated if it gets good reviews and then trashing anyone who likes it as a fanboy.
They had Gina on Attack of the Show the other day and from the clip that they showed, I thought it was a low budget Seagal/Van Damme type movie.
