First half was great. I hated the second half though (from the part where he gets the real shield and final costume on). It just got ridiculous. Really cheesy, and it bothers me when the bad guys have terrible aim, but this took that to a whole new level. I know its a superhero movie, but it just got TOO stupid and ridiculous for me. I'd give it like a 6/10. Second half really soured my opinion
Spoiler Uhh...what? They have a whole Avengers trailer after the credits. Did you leave right after it said he'll be back? or did your theater cut it off or something? Because there was definitely a trailer And if you don't want to read the spoiler, my point is- STAY after the credits. It is definitely worth it.
It was what I expected, better than average movie. I'd still say First Class was better and even give Thor a notch higher than this only because I had low expectations for Thor.
You're kidding right? It was a lot better than Thor. Xmen was the best superhero movie of the year, but it also is arguably the best movie in a series of 5 movies.
Personally, I like Thor better because I not really into movies that are set in the past, hell I'm not into mythology either with Thor, but I enjoyed it more. Btw, did anybody else think Chris Evans was going to say "FLAME ON" in the middle of the movie? I certainly did...
Though I haven't seen Captain America yet; I too, thought Thor was very well done... heck, the prologue alone was pretty darn fantastic.
Personally I thought Thor was a little weak/generic, Captain America far exceeds Thor as far as story/set up and acting goes.
I don't even want to see this movie after the crap Conan has been pulling on his show all week in his opening monologue with regards to an old school "Captain America" movie clip commented on by some idiot on Entertainment Tonight. A really stupid clip of Captain America on a motorcycle followed by some ET commentary abused by Conan saying: LOOKS GOOD! If you didn't see Conan this week, then you are better off.
Now I remember why I wasn't a fan of Captain America as a kid. A superhero with a shield is not that interesting. Decent story, but I could have waited for video on this one.
3 out of 4 isnt bad. I was pretty sure xmen would be at least decent. The others i had major doubts. Thor was pulled off very well and Capt. America seems to be the same (yet to see it but the feedback has beend good). I think i'm going to give in and watch green lantern just for the sake to see it on the big screen.
Good movie. I'd give it 3.5 of 5 stars, with a scale of Dark Knight being 5 and Wolverine being 1. DK, Iron Man, Spider Man 1 and 2 were better. I liked the second hulk a tad bit more too. Thor and Cap were pretty much the same in goodness, but I did like Thor more for the fantastical elements. Tommy Lee Jones was great. The Red Skull's fancy convertible car was awesome. (not a spoiler, it was just his ride) Red Skull's on-screen time was too short, IMO. Chris Evans did a great job, and at no point was I thinking about other characters he's played. Spoiler I didn't like the Hydra design- it was too futuristic, even though they commented on their extremely high tech. I would have liked to see more cutting edge steampunk style design. But on the other hand, their sky vehicles were prop-driven, when the Nazis had jets and rockets later in the war. You'd think that the deep science division would have that, especially given their power source. Speaking of power source, their weapons were heavily superior and yet they were consistently beaten by gunpowder weapons. Pretty generic, formulaic superhero movie, but honestly, I'd rather have that than crap. My biggest gripe (my only big one), is that it wasn't really exciting. It was fun, but nothing jaw dropping or heart racing. Cool effects, good story. Although they could have skipped the 15 minutes of Cap being a USO show. I like how they set up Bucky to come back as a villain. Oh, and there IS a Scene at the end of the credits... AND a Trailer for another movie...
At best a 2.5/5 in my opinion. Thor was far more enjoyable and I'd say better done overall, as well. I didn't care about any of the characters. There was virtually no passion. None of the scenes or characters had any meat to them, Cap included. I found Howard Stark to be the most interesting character, and his role was a minor one. The action scenes were boring, the characters were dull, the lines lacked any punch. It felt like an awful lot was crammed into not enough time, and in the process they forgot to make it interesting or fun. The post-credit scene was far and away the most inspiring part of the movie. I'm really disappointed....I really wanted to like this, and I was pretty certain I would, and I wound up being bored for two hours.
My biggest beef was with the special effects behind feeble Chris Evans. It was just poorly done. It looked like they just shrunk the contours of Evans' head without proportionately shrinking his facial features. So his nose, eyes, ears, and mouth look too big for his head. Those SFX artists should never work again. The acting was meh except for a few one liners from TLJ. The story was nothing special, pretty much standard superhero stuff. The poster who says Thor was better is very much correct. The acting in thor was far more believable.
