Yao, Hayes, Scola, or Battier... (most recently)
    It's too tough to call.
    But I'll lean... Yao!

Ron Artest. He brought a sense of don't f*** with me to the whole team, and it was clear in the LA series. Even though we lost that series. I feel that that series was some of the most exciting Houston basketball in the last 10 years, aside from the winning streak. I firmly believe that we would not have gotten past the first round again. Sure his offense struggled while with Houston, but the toughness that he spread to the team is immeasurable.

I liked Jim Petersen. Recent times - Scola, Battier, Hayes. I'm starting to like Patterson a lot.

    Ralph Sampson
If you are to young to see him play when he had two knees
-Smoothest big ever at OVER SEVEN FEET TALL
-Could play any frontcourt spot at OVER SEVEN FEET TALL
-Could run a fast brake at OVER SEVEN FEET TALL
-Dirk / Camby / Horry rolled into one player at OVER SEVEN FEET TALL
-Dream was the second best player on the team at the time

I like J. Hill a lot not an all timer, yet. He showing so much growth and when all comes together you will be a fan, too. He will NEVER be a Ralph though.

Battier, Yao, Sura, Scola, Mobley, Jon Barry. Francis would've been there but as his career went down his behavior just made look at him different.

I'd have to go with Cat. Ever since he took the final shot in Game 1 of the 1999 1st round against the Lakers, I've been in love with him. Kind of an odd moment to fall for a player, since the shot was blocked by Shaq. The possession before that Pippen had dribbled the ball of his leg (cementing my hatred for Pippen).

The reason it stood out for me, was that RudyT put the ball in hands for the most important possession of the season, as a 2nd round rookie with 3 future HOFs on the team.

I totally agree. Cat was my favorite player during that era.

Incredibly skilled. A ton of heart.

For me it's a toss up between Cuttino and Carl Landry. Both were second rounders who played with a ton of heart (and efficiency!) and completely came out of nowhere to do so.

Ron Artest is in this category to a degree, but he was a mostly known commodity by the time he came here, and he didn't stick around long. But that was a fun ride!

Yao was very good but always a bit of a disappointment. We'll always play the "what if" game with him.

Stevie could never quite get us there, and his career quickly flamed out after the McGrady trade, but you have to have loved his enthusiasm, if not so much his boneheaded on-court decisions from time to time.

Tracy was great at times, but largely a victim of bad luck until evidently it took too much of a toll and he seemed to give up. He was terribly disappointing towards the end.

Final honorable mention goes to Von Wafer. The definition of a loose cannon, but man was he entertaining to watch.

My favorites come from the 2004-2005 and 2008-2009 teams. I'll try to narrow it down to a starting five (and backups):

    C - Yao (Deke)
    PF - Carl Landry (Scola)
    SF - Shane (Chase)
SG - 2004-2005 TMac (Jon Barry)
    PG - Bob Sura (Lowry)

    Now for the least favorites:

C - Kelvin Cato (Jordan Hill)
    PF - Stromile (Mo Taylor)
SF - Kirk Snyder (Joaquin Hawkins)
    SG - David Wesley (Mobley)
    PG - Rod Strickland (Francis)

For me it's gotta be Tmac, when he was good he was frickin awesome. He revived my love for the Rockets after I started to lose interest a little in the early 2000's.
