2007 (8-8) and 2009 (9-7) seasons...This Texans team led by Kubiak is notorious for handing games away when it seems like victory is staring them in the face. The talent and the opportunity for the playoffs has been there. It's just been poor decision making on the field that has left the team on the outside looking in.
Yep, and some of us are tired of the constant, pervasive, endless negativity. I can find... a dozen posts throughout these offseason threads that criticize the Texans for things *that haven't even happened yet*. Heck, I can probably find half a dozen in this thread alone. Two or 3 just on this page. I love football and I love talking about football. I would love reasoned discussion about the 2011 Texans. I challenge you to find more than 3-4 posters in this forum who want to have a reasoned discussion about the Texans. These threads are nothing more than jumping off points to start the white-noise that is Texans fans complaining non-stop about *every*thing. And if you dare challenge it for the sake of discussion, you're making an excuse, or part of the propaganda, or Bob McNair himself. (I've been accused of all 3.) I'd love more posters to let go of some of their anger and have more balanced takes. There's PLENTY of room for negativity; I'm just at a loss why there's seemingly no room for positivity?
So Kubiak is the general manager? What does Smith do? Kubiak has influence, sure...but I wouldnt say that we'd be talentless if not for Kubiak.
2007? When everyone else in the division finished with 10 wins or more and another 10 win team in the league didn't make the playoffs? You think that was the year we should have been in the playoffs?
You should read other posts in these threads if you thought yours was "outlandish." Read far more par for the course...
A couple winnable division games and we are at 10 wins while a division rival drops below us. Yes, thats playoffs.
when the season starts, i'm sure i will be excited. but when we talk about FA acquisitions, i don't have a lot of faith in the "braintrust."
If we don't land any top free agent CB's I'm rooting for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Then we get ride of Kubes, Smith and get a franchise QB and some real coaches.
Attention, everyone - this would be a prime example of what I'm talking about: A fan ready to root for a 1-, 2-win season IF THEY DON'T SIGN A FREE AGENT CB........ I mean...... And *I'm* on the extreme here???
Its time for Kubes and co. to reap what they sow. If they think they can just stand pat and depend on first year players to make the team better and allow Jones and leach to walk then they deserve to lose. You can't piss on my leg and call it "battlefightin'".
You do realize the offseason hasn't started yet, right? That teams are not yet allowed to talk with or about free agents?.........................
Way off, it's... Spoiler It's not Amobi's fault that he was drafted so high by a team that can't develop players. He's probably too small to develop into anything anyway, but still ain't his fault.
Hell, I'm just glad this thread is alive and kicking again - recycled arguments and all. This lockout has been BRUTAL.
You can add as many qualifiers as you like; your post read like you've already put the cart before the horse.
how is that a solution to anything? A QB that (at best) is marginally better than Schaub does what to this team?
I can understand those whose posts are supernegative. It's been a football toilet around here since the early 90s. And when we hear the media and the Texans brass already prepackaging their excuses, it's hard *not* to put the cart before the horse. So yes, while there are some good things to point at and a couple reasons to try to make oneself feel optimistic, and while we still have the entire offseason--all twenty minutes of it--to go before we arrive at any real judgment of how the Texans perform, I don't fault anyone for expressing any angst. Until the Texans prove they'll finally do anything otherwise, anyway. I wonder how many folks around here are done allowing themselves to get "up" and excited about the Texans only to get smashed back to reality. I'm personally in a "show me" frame of mind. Until they demonstrate otherwise, they're a turd loaded with excuses and what-ifs. Sort of like the Rockets, only with a different set of excuses.
