http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/letters__yao_the_housn_ro_2011_07_21.html Just a few short letters to Yao from members of the organization. Personally liked what Morey and CD had to say. I'm by no means one of the so called YOF, but in my 20 some odd years of being a Rockets fan I took the most enjoyment in defending Yao's game, so under appreciated. Been said a million times already, but I am really going to miss Yao Ming.
Dear Yao it was great to have you as an asset. too bad i didn't trade you while your value was high. however i thought there wasn't an asset out there that i could have replaced your value with you are the second asset to retire on my watch. i'll try to not let that happen again. sincerely Daryl
Dear Yao, I hope your max contract suited you well. You might be the most-paid player in NBA history based on your production. Over 6 million a game over the last 2 years alone. Should have signed below max. Next time learn from Duncan, who may not make as much as you, but still makes plenty and has RINGS. Hell, even Lebron gets it.
Dear Yao, The higher you stand, the harder you land The higher your balls, the harder you fall ...stick to fishing now
You're right, we should have used that money to lure a key free agent. Wait. Nobody wants to come to Houston anyway.
On what planet is Duncan making less than Yao? If he was the selfless Saint Duncan you’re making him out to be, he could’ve turned down his $21M option next season and his restructured his contract to help his team, right? And the city of Cleveland says hi regarding Lebron’s selfless character lol… Everybody’s disappointed with Yao’s injuries, no one more than Yao himself. But don’t make him out to be some selfish douche, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Here are some parts of the letters in case you missed them...
Some heartless haters in this thread... No matter what happened in the "Yao Era".... good or bad... insinuating any of it was Yao's fault is ridiculous. The only thing he's guilty of is maybe being too loyal or too unselfish.
Leslie's, Morey's, and Dawson's were all very touching. I however would like to read one from JVG. That man without a doubt had nothing but the upmost respect for Yao. He truly helped him develop into a big time player while he was here. Still can't believe Yao is done. Although he had a short career, it was a hell of a ride.
Dear Yao, I can’t commend your parents enough on the way they raised you. You’re just so unselfish. You could have averaged 30 points per game in this league, but you were committed instead to being the perfect teammate and doing whatever you could to help the Rockets win games. Carroll Dawson Houston Rockets – Senior Consultant/General Manager 1996-2007 * * * For those stat guru talking about how bad Yao's number on the court considering his height, are you ready to listen to CD?
Now only JVG. Seems everyone in the organisation, and all the media, had utmost respect for Yao. How did he do that?
That yao vs shaq game was amazing man, the first one,... I actually had a few drafts threw out the tmac+Yao vs dallas series over there at Katy Mills Mall, inside the old rodeo bar, back in 05-06. Nobody there but me watching those games, kinda funny but not really.
